RE-UPLOAD: The Sisters Of Mercy - Whistle Test Studios, London, UK - 02.04.1985 (Flac/HQ MPEG Video)
Thanks to the original uploader.
Original Info File:
The Whistle Test tracks come from a very clean vinyl bootleg 7". Sound quality is excellent and the performances are complete; I have even restored the beginning of First and Last and Always.

02. Marian
As a bonus I've included video footage of the Whistle Test performance. Because it came with very muffled sound, I have synched the images up with the excellent audio recordings from the bootleg 7" - to very good effect, I might add. The picture quality is great, too (courtesy of Solitude - many thanks, P.!), though occasionally there's some static and picture travelling (but never do sound & vision go out of synch). Also, the beginnings of both tracks and the end of Marian are truncated. Still, there's plenty left to give you a fine impression of the band in full action! See screenshots.

The Sisters Of Mercy - Sportpaleis, Gent, Belgium - 16.05.1991 (Flac)
NOTE: By some stupid reason, the photos that were originally on the fileset are missing from the RAR file... To make up for that, I treated them in Photoshop (they're quite better now), and posted them in full resolution, please copy them to the recording folder after downloading.
Thanks to the original uploader.
Original Info File:
Tape received in my trading period from end 80's until mid 90's.
As shown on concert ticket I've included, this concert should have taken place on
15th November 1990 in Deinze, Het Brielpoort (an awful hall where acoustic does not exist...).
The concert was eventually cancelled and tickets remained valid. The new date was later
announced as 16th May 1991 and fortunately location was changed to Gent, Sportpaleis.
This is the only gig I saw in this venue and it was really OK regarding the sound but also the
configuration. People could access either the playground area (standing) or the balconeys (sitting),
but most insteresting was that between both, there was a velodrome. During "Vision Thing", Andrew
disappeared off the stage and started running, singing all along the velodrome with people going mad
and trying to approach the barriers along the velodrome where Andrew was standing. I could take
a picture of this particular moment and this is also included in the post, along with some others.
Be indulgent regarding the quality as this was taken with my old pocket cam.
Unknown recording equipment and it should be a lowgen copy.
Very good sound quality and I processed a slight hiss reduction + some fade in / out (several tape
or recording flips)

Cassette(aud,master,That's EX90) > wav > Soundforge > CDWave > split on sector boundaries > flac(6)
Recorded with Sony Recording Walkman WM-BF67 & t-shaped external mic (Eurochannels Stereo Mic EMC3630)
Recording had many clicks, most of which I was able to remove manually in Soundforge. It's not perfect but it's a huge improvement on the original. After that day the microphone never worked again just making a lot of clicks, I think water got in it. It was raining heavily that day. As well as the faulty mic, the mic's extension wire had a dodgy connection (later for the Sisters the right channel became completely disconnected).
I was moving through the crowd, sound quality improves from halfway through the 2nd song.

Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros - Acton Town Hall, London, UK -15.11.2002 (FLAC)
From the Dave Sez archive: On the ‘Bringing It All Back Home’ tour in November 2002, Joe included this benefit gig for the members of the striking Fire Brigades Union. Mick Jones was in the audience and joined Joe onstage for the last three songs, the first time the two had shared a stage since their last performance together in the Clash in 1983. Originally a fan club only release, the CD is now out of print and has taken on legendary and essential status for all Clash fans, as the sound quality and mix are superb. It is a fine memento from Joe’s final tour deserving a permanent official release. Joe died from an undiscovered congenital heart defect just over a month later on 22nd December 2002.

NOTES:
After a lacklustre performance at Crossing Border in The Hague in November,
I'm hoping Warpaint are well-rested and capable of better tonight.
The trouble is that you can't build a solid structure on a poor foundation.
Even if the band are at the top of their game tonight, it's a game built atop
weak songs and even weaker voices.
Why is it that so many American women have high-pitched, squeaky voices? You
encounter the phenomenon everywhere, of course, but it's much more pronounced
amongst American women. Why?
To my surprise, googling 'why american women have squeaky voices' actually
turns up a large amount of very interesting literature on the subject.
Warpaint have a full complement of such voices and, all too often, use them to
sing in unison. The net effect is akin to a collaboration between Pinky &
Perky (American readers may substitute the Chipmunks here) and a couple of
Smurfs. Rather than make for a fuller sound, it merely underscores the
inherent weakness of the individual voices.
Do you remember those talking dolls of yore with a plastic ring dangling from
their back? If you pulled the ring, a cord would extend, and as you released
the ring, the cord would slowly retract inside the doll, while the doll
muttered child-pleasing banalities in an irritatingly squeaky voice.
I can't help but be reminded of those dolls as I watch Warpaint perform to a
sold-out Paradiso tonight.
I don't mean to be unkind, but whatever musical qualities this band may
possess, an ability to sing is glaringly conspicuous by its absence.
Let's move on to the music.
On the subject of the songs, I can be brief: drab and uninspired.
To describe the band's sound, a single word will suffice: derivative. The
flanged bass is 'Tocsin' era Xmal Deutschland. The chorused guitars are
distilled from Robert Smith in both of his well-known guises.
It's as if someone exhumed the corpse of one of the countless forgotten goth
bands of the eighties, jolted it back to life with a defibrillator and then
sent it out on the live circuit to impress anyone too young and insufficiently
inquisitive to have heard it all before.
Sadly, I'm too old and informed to be anything other than bored rigid tonight.
The gig drags on and on, but the young whippersnappers around me lap it up as
if present at the gig of their life; and perhaps they are.
On the plus side, there's the rock solid rhythm section of bassist Jenny Lee
Lindberg and drummer Stella Mozgawa. They truly are a formidable partnership
and very enjoyable to watch. The trouble is, they're in the wrong band. They
need to ditch the chaff at the front and start anew.
Sorry, but someone has to say it. Cruel to be kind and all that.
Based on the reactions of those around me, the band put in a sterling
performance. From where I'm standing, however, it's an average performance by
an average band. Not even being told that I'm beautiful, with all the
exaggerated false sentiment so beloved of Americans, can lift my spirits.
And so we come to the recording. Rest assured that I have put the same effort
into making and mastering this recording as I would into one that I was
enthusiastic about. My opinion of the band has no impact on the quality of the
recording and should have no bearing on your ability to enjoy it.

This is an EQ'd version of a pre-FM download, albeit with 1969 added in (it was missing from the download version) - I shared this back in 2011, thought it was time to share it again, here.
This latter version was clearer but had very excessive treble, with a little
apparent treble distortion. This noise does seem to stem from the original
recording, as I noticed it was there in the background on my tape version, but
buried under tape hiss (which isn't bad on my original seed, but it is there).
I have mixed this to reduce that treble noise so that now I find it an ideal
match between my original tape version - slightly hissy, but very gutsy - and
the clearer version - very clear, too much treble / treble noise.
I think this sounds very good now, as good as the KBFH (official) CD version of
the Boston Channel 1988 concert to my ears.
Enjoy.

Very Good FM broadcast. Another tape from the Foxtrotter archives. Thanks to Creatured for sharing it on Dime.
I think he taped this himself off the radio. Seems to be incomplete too ,missing 3 songs.
If you have the complete version, share it.
I think this show was the same as the Cabaret Voltaire I seeded
a little while back.
I believe Our Daughters Wedding played this night too. unless it was at another venue onthe same night. Yes,i have the ODW show too, but that is going to be awile before i can seed that.

Share freely, losslessly and gaplessly.
note: a previous post of this show was just 50:03, missing tracks 14 and 15, and some of the encore babble. this is the entire concert, broadcasted live on WBCN as it happened. the only tape flip was after track 12 ended so a second master tape was copied for the last 6 tracks (3 songs) of the broadcast. Both the drummer and bassist changed in 1986 so they may be different here. The band listing here is the one as the Ritz, N.Y.C. 1986 concert broadcasted on MTV.
The sound in tracks 1, and 13-18 isn't quite as crisp as the rest, not sure why since tracks 1-12 are all from master tape (recorded on Nak. BX 100 cassette deck) but this is the full concert, including all the songs and radio announcer babble. It was the announcer's chance to be informative and let us know what fine songs we just heard played so well, or who played them so well.
But this was broadcasted on WBCN in the mid 1980's. In the shank of the ego era, the reaganera.
so the announcer encore breaks are all just babble. They are in here for the sake of completeness only.
NOT for your listening pleasure.
There is some quality fluctation in the broadcast, but the signal is strong throughout. The band was popular enough at this time in Boston that a second Paradise show was added by popular demand on Nov. 9th. that one had a different opening band (Until December)

Brian Eno - More Generative Music - Expanded/Compiled (Flac)
Thanks to the original uploader on Dime.
Studio Quality (created with Koan software) A++
from Wiki:
Koan is a generative music engine that was created by a company called SSEYO, a company founded by Pete Cole and Tim Cole. It was founded specifically to create and market Koan. The technology is now owned by a company called Intermorphic Limited, which was co-founded by the Cole brothers in 2007.
Koan was actually an architecture named the SSEYO Koan Interactive Audio Platform (SKIAP). This consisted of the core Koan generative music engine (the SSEYO Koan Generative Music Engine (SKME), a set of authoring tools (SSEYO Koan Pro and SSEYO Koan X), a set of stand-alone Koan Music player (SSEYO Koan Plus, SSEYO Koan File Player and SSEYO Koan Album Player) and a plug-in for internet browsers such as Internet Explorer and Netscape.
The Koan generative music engine was very deep; this is partially because of the long history of the product. Development of the Koan engine started in 1990, when SSEYO was founded. By 1992, the first version went into beta testing. The first Koan software was publicly released in 1994 and distributed by Koch Media. The first Koan Pro authoring tool was released in 1995. The same year, SSEYO managed to bring Koan to the attention of Brian Eno, and it turned out that he was interested in using Koan. He started creating pieces with Koan Pro that, in April 1996, lead to the publication of his seminal title Generative Music 1 with SSEYO Koan software. This was a boxed product containing a floppy disk, on which was the SSEYO Koan Plus player and a set of 12 Koan generative-music pieces that he authored. Eno's early relationship with Koan was captured in his 1996 diary A Year with Swollen Appendices.
Brian Eno, 1996:
“ Some very basic forms of generative music have existed for a long time, but as marginal curiosities. Wind chimes are an example, but the only compositional control you have over the music they produce is in the original choice of notes that the chimes will sound. Recently, however, out of the union of synthesisers and computers, some much finer tools have evolved. Koan Software is probably the best of these systems, allowing a composer to control not one but one hundred and fifty musical and sonic parameters within which the computer then improvises (as wind improvises the wind chimes).
The works I have made with this system symbolize to me the beginning of a new era of music. Until 100 years ago, every musical event was unique: music was ephemeral and unrepeatable and even classical scoring couldn't guarantee precise duplication. Then came the gramophone record, which captured particular performances and made it possible to hear them identically over and over again.
But now there are three alternatives: live music, recorded music and generative music. Generative music enjoys some of the benefits of both its ancestors. Like live music it is always different. Like recorded music it is free of time-and-place limitations - you can hear it when and where you want.
I really think it is possible that our grandchildren will look at us in wonder and say, "You mean you used to listen to exactly the same thing over and over again?"
”
Using the pseudonym CSJ Bofop, 1996:
“ Each of the twelve pieces on Generative Music 1 has a distinctive character. There are, of course, the ambient works ranging from the dark, almost mournful “Densities III” (complete with distant bells), to translucent “Lysis (Tungsten).” These are contrasted with pieces in dramatically different styles, such as Komarek with its hard-edged, angular melodies, reminiscent of Schoenberg's early serial experiments, and “Klee 42,” whose simple polyphony is similar to that of the early Renaissance. But of course, the great beauty of Generative Music is that those pieces will never sound quite that way again. ”
The Koan Pro software was available for Windows (16- and 32-bit) and Macintosh 8/9, but never integrated well with desktop audio workstations (DAWs/sequencers) because there was never an audio plug-in version of the software.
Although SKIAP was developed until 2001, the last extension of the SKME itself was in 1998, as SSEYO concentrated on developing technology around the music engine, including real-time music synthesis and a highly programmable internet browser plug-in wrapper.
The SSEYO Koan Plugin for web browers was programmable in real-time through JavaScript, and was used to create several interesting interactive applications for web browsers. By 2001, Koan included a modular synthesizer; its engine also by then featured a file format referred to by SSEYO as Vector Audio, which allowed very complicated generative pieces, complete with full synthesizer sound descriptions, to be delivered in only a few thousand bytes of plain text within a Web page. This development led to SSEYO being awarded the 2001 BAFTA Interactive Award for Technical Innovation.
SSEYO was acquired by Tao Group Limited, which folded in 2007. As a result, Koan and the Koan Pro authoring tool are no longer available.
Koan continued to be popular with artists and was featured at the Ars Electronica event in 2003, in a 96-hour event playing live Koan music from various artists over a 160,000-watt PA in Linz's Klangpark on the banks of the Danube. This was known as the Dark Symphony project.
In 2007, the original creators of Koan (Pete Cole and Tim Cole) founded a company called intermorphic (http://www.intermorphic.com), to create a new generative system called Noatikl. Noatikl can import data from the old Koan system; and offers a variety of audio plug-in implementations for easy integration with desktop audio tool chains in a very modern context
In 2008, intermorphic acquired the Koan technology, and started to describe Noatikl as "the evolution of Koan.”

Notes:
Sorry, exact date unknown, almost certain it was sometime in 1985 and the credits refer to Live Aid highlights being broadcast on the New Year's Eve show, so its likely this was broadcast in December.
45 minutes of googling and I couldn't find anything more concrete than this.
If anyone can help with the date that would be great. Credits are rolled over Hells Home and this fades out. Possible extra VHS stage - I consolidated some VHSs in the early 90s and I can't remember if this was one of them.
