OK i attented the whole WGT with my backup recorder from Yamaha because something fishy happened to my CA9100. But it isn´t the single explanation of the bad sound of FOTN @ WGT. i was FOB the sound was bad, friends from front to middle of audience - sound was bad, other tapers other positions sound was bad. Some of my hardliner FOTN friends left before the encore! Just compare with the Killing Joke recording and the FOTN gig from 2008 it is possible to make good sound at the Agra. i also wanted to videotape the whole FOTN gig but i had no enjoyment because their lack of sound so i shut down the camera after 4th song.
After rehearsal i don´t know what happened to their so called sound guy - Shroud and STTL are really fine, but then it went more wrong track by track. In the middle of the recording there is barely noticable a static around 2kHz maybe also a faulty of their sound mixing, other recordings i made on this years WGT even at the Agra aren´t affected so it´s not a faulty of my recorder. For her Light and Sumerland started not tight and too static drumming through the tracks because Lee Newell has to run to a clock signal. So he was able to show - or better: was only ALLOWED to show - only around a third of his potential he can do - just listen to Secret Mother Tongue he´s drummer there too.Last Exit was brilliant again.
Points for Carl: They put New Gold Dawn into the set, the fog was fine.
