Sonic Youth And John Zorn - South Bank Show - Documentary - 1989 (ProShot DVD)
Thanks to cEnda for sharing another excellent DVD.
Notes:
Directed by Charles Atlas. Overall length is 53 minutes, approximately 24 of which are devoted to Sonic Youth.
Made by for an excellent BBC arts program in the UK called "The Southbank Show".
Never released on video. The program does air without commercials on PBS and Bravo,a cable-only channel in the U.S.
Shows "the influence that environment or location has on music (in this case, New York City.)"
The title is supplied by Glenn Branca during the film.
The film has pieces on: John Zorn (includes a live performance by Spy Vs Spy at the Knitting Factory);and Sonic Youth.
The last medley is of real interest; it suggests that the entire performance was recorded and then edited down.
That medley have also alternate footage of the Sugar Kane video clip, not included in the "Screaming Fields" version.
This version was recorded how was broadcasted on the BBC TV ,in complete form.
Others broadcasts talks about more artists included (Ambition Lovers and Hugo Largo), but the final credits don't make any mention of that artists.
Appear that ones was including in another chapters of "The Southbank show" saga.
SONIC YOUTH SONGS:
Shaking Hell (album version, edited)
Madonna, Sean And Me (album version, edited)
Addicted To Love (video, edited)
Death Valley '69 (video, edited)
Eliminator Jr. (album version, edited)
Silver Rocket
Kissability/Rain King/Silver Rocket (live and edited footage)
Hi there! Could you possibly re-upload this please? I've searched long and hard, and its not available legitimately anywhere. Thanks :)
