Ministry - With Sympathy Demos (Flac)
Unknown Studio, Unknown Date (probably late 1982/early 1983), Thanks to Hans de Vente for ripping and sharing it on his blog. I just splitted and named the tracks.
A Hans de Vente tape
Transfer: Nakamichi B1 -> HD -> FLAC
Edits: Audacity -> TLH -> FLAC (Level 8)
Info:
Not much info, except that this tape was given to Hans when he was in New York City and it's labeled as first album demos. The versions on the tape are different from the released tracks, some have different lyrics, most have different musical parts and different duration. Same Old Madness was never released, and this version is different from the common version that originates from the soundtrack of the videoclip.
The fact that only 5 tracks are on the tape and the 3 singles from With Sympathy are present, together with the aborted single (Same Old Madness) suggests that this was the tape used by the band to pitch a record deal, using the tracks they thought were stronger or more catchy, but this is just speculation from my part. Being true it would contradict Al's version of the facts.
With Sympathy is by far Ministry's more acessible album, Al Jourgensen usually refers to it as a corporate controlled product that the band didn't endorsed then nor now. Nevertheless, it's a good New Wave album and it's seen by some of the fans as the band's best.
Surely it's difficult to imagine the band with this New Wave sound when you hear Psalm 69...
01. Work For Love (3.51)
02. I Wanted To Tell Her (6.06)
03. Same Old Madness (5.58)
04. She's Got A Cause (3.50)
05. Revenge (4.38)
