This was recorded by the same person using the same equipment as the other later Gang Of Four Toronto 1979 show; as such, this has exceptional sound quality for an audience recording from this period.

  1. Yesyesyesyesyes! Thanks a million, circle, for thinking of me and putting this up - can't wait to hear it! Once my current Au Pairs megaposting and the previous Television one (http://floppybootstomp-ii.blogspot.com/search/label/Television) are completed, I'll be moving on to the big one - the Gang of Four megapost, and hope to have some good crunchy stuff for you. Cheers and thanks again, Dave Sez.

  2. I hope that the downloads of this are ripping apart the server, because they should be: an essential early Go4 recording, and in top notch quality. All honour paid to this most excellent taper - very few audience recordings rate an A-, and this is indeed exceptional sound and also performance. Worthy of note: the ska guitar on Contract (the only track from Entertainment dropped by the original line-up when reforming in 2005), and the keyboard effect of the guitar (again) for the unique opening to Anthrax. On top of that, the version of Damaged Goods is just simply blazing - raw, rough and rauque, the best live version I have ever heard. Miss this gift at your peril! Musical heaven, circle, ta muchly, cheers indeed, Dave Sez.
