Notes:
Believe it or not: This was my very first Sisters Of Mercy concert ! Although I know them since 1985 when I first heard them on a Germany radio station namend "Bayern 3". The moderator was the lovely Stefanie Tuecking. The elder Germans know her as the third moderator of the famous TV show "Formel Eins" (and she was the only one of all four moderators who knows what she is talks about - Peter, Ingolf and Kai were only entertainers without any serious music background). This radio broadcast presenting the first Sisters album was the starting point of my "Gothic career" - Bowie-Pop-Eldritch - that the chronological order !

When the Sisters turned back on stage in 1990 I was very disappointed about the new rock sound at that moment. So I've never had the motivation to join any Sisters event. Now, Andrew gets 50 and I thought, I should take the chance, because nobody knows how long the live history of the Sisters continues...

I'm not a fan of such heavy bass and dull sound like it was mixed up at Sisters gigs - my ECM-717 compresses sound too, so overall it was a little too much for my recording. I've done a little EQ-ing to turn down the lower frequencies. Not 100% comparable with those recordings of you "battery box guys", but still really listenable. Give it a try !

A short comment for those of you who are part of the Heartland community: Don't be afraid, the short "Marian" piece cyberbio has posted in the forum is not representive for the whole recording ! - This strange guy has lost his voice after this enthusiastic intermezzo during the German strophe of "Marian" ;-)

Go to the shows and don't sell or buy any live recordings !

The Sisters of Mercy - Mechanised South America Tour 2009 (Video)

So this is part of my abandoned (for now) MultiCam video project for the Sisters 2009 tour in South America. I took the source videos from YouTube and edited them. The difference between this and other MultiCam videos I've seen it's that for each song, I used only sources of that song in the same concert, instead of using sources of a song from various concerts. I like the "live" effect that creates, even if some sources are a little shaky.

I think these videos are far from done, they can be made better, but I really don't have the time to finish them in a near future, and I have material to make at least 6 more... So maybe, if I finish it, I'll make a DVD, if not, here it is in a fairly good transfer to .avi.

If anyone has suggestions about this, I'm happy to hear them.

A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL YOUTUBE USERS THAT UPLOADED THEIR VIDEOS, too many to list but you know who you are, and without you, this wouldn't be possible.

Enjoy.

The Sisters of Mercy - Mechanised South America Tour - 2009 (Sketchbook)

OK, so let me tell you what this is.

.

I was really curious to listen to the recordings of the South American concerts by the Sisters, search a little bit, asked some traders, but nobody that I know has them. I'm pretty sure they exist, but for now they're not available. So, using a tool that DocSommer indicated me, I went searching YouTube for videos with decent sound to transfer them to MP3.

Let me tell you, that it's a bitch, searching all the clips (most of them without the name of the song) to try to get as much songs that are listenable and were complete, from each concert.

After completion, and only one concert has the complete setlist (because I broke the rule of the complete songs), I listened to it and actually enjoyed it!

Of course it looks like a Dadaistic text, such are the changes of sound quality and volume.

I call them sketchbook versions because they're a good teaser for when a proper recording surfaces.

Worth listening, if only to hear the overwelming joy of the crowd (imagine waiting 20 years or more for one Sisters concert, like in Argentina and Peru!!!), that goes mad almost on the entire time (in all the concerts), but also because the band is absolutely at it's Peek and Andrew is singing like I haven't hear for some time.

.

Thank to everybody that uploaded their videos on YouTube, you're too many to mention individually! But you know who you are.

Hope you enjoy it, I surely don't feel I wasted my time on this pet project.

The Sisters of Mercy - X-Tra, Zurich, Switzerland - 29.04.2009 (Flac)

This excellent recording was made by Sisterstekland, who was kind enough to let me share it. It's actually a new mix, that sounds better than the previous one. The vocals are super clear and the band gives a very good performance, there are some small fluctuations in sound, because the taper was also video recording the concert (some of the images are in the 2009 tour video) and moved position. There are two songs missing from the setlist, Flood II and This Corrosion, that were not recorded. During Train/Detonation Blvd you can hear a security guy demanding that the taper erase the video recording, and getting tricked to accept the battery instead, as any good taper, Sisterstekland had another.:) In FLAC. Links open separately.

Also, here's a nice photo gallery of the concert:

Notes from original TXT file:

The songs marked with (X) are messed up/incomplete or missing because I got caught during filming the show. The security took me away to handle the situation in a separate room. I had to delete my video recording BUT the good thing was that the guys haven't recognized my audio equipment so I was able to resume my recording after I got back to the audience.
