Notes (original):
This was the 58th upload of my concerts collection recorded in Lyon (France) between 1982-1990.
The Cult were recorded for Radio Bellevue at the West Side Club (Lyon) inside the famous Palais d'Hiver.
I was using a very basic system for recording: soundboard outputs + a couple of ambiance mikes (Sennheiser) standing in front of the scene, mixed with 4-tracks desk to a Sony TDC5M with
headphones on-the-fly.
LTC Contrast clause : better numerisation than the former one ... with a Nakamichi, it's a dream (merci Julien) !
I'm now sure that my tapes sound better and run at the right speed ... have had a lot of speed problems for some of my former LTC tapes

Artwork : no

Line up :
Ian Astbury : vocals
Billy Duffy : guitars
Jamie Stewart : bass
Nigel Preston : drums

RE-UPLOAD: Suicide - Ruinas do Carmo, Lisboa, Portugal - 08.09.1988 (Flac)

Thanks to BTT for sending me his recording to share here.

RIP Alan Vega

NOTES:This particular concert was very strange and it seemed more like a ritual than a conventinal gig. First of all, for those of you who don't know the place where it happened, it is a church (now monument) built in 1389, without ceiling but that survived the earthquake in 1755, hence the name Carmo Ruins, it's a very special place and I think it influenced the band, Alan reffer to it during the concert. Second, some members of the audience started annoying Alan Vega demanding that they played songs from the first album, you can hear them scream for Frankie Teardrop and Ghostrider, of course the result was the opposite, in his confrontational self, Alan started to answer them "Frankie's Dead", "Stop playing the punk" and when they actually played Ghostrider, he quickly changed the lyrics to Blue Suede Shoes, Ah, Ah, Ah! There goes the neighbourhood... Also, there were some technical and electrical problems, that made the concert stop two times, and that made the audience even more nervous, so the concert ended with a improvisation/catharsis of 10 minutes plus, during wich Alan jumped the stage and sang among/with the audience. You can hear it all in the recording, so enjoy!

The sound is very good, specially if you think that it's a tape with 21 years, recorded with a walkman (some SONY, do't remember wich one). Thanks to radiolux for the setlist.

RE-UPLOAD: The Cure - SO36, Berlin, Germany - 28.05.1980 (Flac)

Early concert from The Cure, sound is not excellent, but even so it's a very nice listen. It seems that this concert is not very circulated, at least the page for it on cureconcerts.de doesn't have much info on this recording. The version of Killing an Arab has the lyrics change to Killing Kevin Keegan, the football player...

Notes from http://www.cure-concerts.de

Line-Up:
Robert Smith, Simon Gallup, Laurence Tolhurst, Matthieu Hartley

This concert is known as "28.05.1980 Berlin - Kant Kino" and "28.05.1980 Berlin - SO36".
According to the Kant Kino employee Beate it was not played at the Kant Kino.

The modification of 'killing an arab' to 'killing kevin keegan' caused most likely from Roberts football adoration. On 28.05.1980 the european football champions final was played in Madrid between the english club Nottingham Forest F.C. and the german club Hamburger SV.  The english player Kevin Keegan played for Hamburger SV these days, something Robert seems not to like ... at least that evening.

Original notes :
This is the 237th upload of my concerts collection recorded in Lyon (France) between 1982-1990.
THE LORDS OF THE NEW CHURCH were recorded for ZAP FM at "Le Summum" de Grenoble (100 km east Lyon).
Usual mix of soundboard outputs and ambiance mikes mixed lived on a 4 tracks desk with headphones, onto a cassette tape recorder SONY TCD5M ...
This concert was recorded one day before the one recorded at Le Truc[k] in Lyon on November 6.
see http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=167470.
My apologies for the 4 first tracks which were mixed so strangely....
With a special (bad) mention for the track 4, i suppose that the band soundman suddenly awaked and began to touch all the faders ...
After that, the sound stayed normal in the mix ... sometimes, Stiv Bators's voice was weak in the final mix.
But a concert full of energy and it was the Stiv Bator's birthday that night ....

An incomplete version of this show - ending after Safe European Home - has circulated for many years and was posted to Dime most recently in 2012. This version surfaced last year
and was digitized and circulated by users at the Clash City message boards.

This version includes the full broadcast from that night, including 10 extra songs, a lengthy radio introduction while the announcers wait for the Clash to take the stage (track 1), and an interview
conducted backstage after the show. At 34 songs it is one of the longest (maybe the longest) Clash shows. Unfortunately, 3 songs (Washington Bullets, Tommy Gun, and White Man in
Hammersmith Palais) are truncated due to the radio announcer talking over the music. This was also present on the earlier circulating source.
All other songs are complete. The crowd was apparently very rowdy that night and there are numerous adlibs and breaks between songs due to Joe Strummer trying to stop fights or calm the audience down.

mp3 samples are in comments. I'm posting it here with permission of the user who digitized the show; I don't have details on
what exactly he or she did with regard to remastering. Considering that it's a 36 year old AM radio broadcast, it sounds quite good.
