The Sisters of Mercy - Powerhouse, Birmingham, UK - 26.03.1985 (Flac)

Excellent sound. thanks to whiskybob for sharing it some years ago.

Original Info File;

Lineage:
Aud 1>Sony TC V901(HXPRO)Cassette deck>Magix Audio Lab@ 16
bit sample rate 44.1>wav>CDR>EAC( secure)>wav>flac>Dime

Taper:
S.D well known taper, mainly N.O but also anything around the Birmingham area which is close to where he was living during the mid eighties.Dropped out of the taping/trading scene late eighties with lots of people looking for him!!

He was using a Sony Pro wmdc6, mics unknown although very good. The setlist was fairly standard for this period. The sound is what you'd expect for eqipment of this quality, well balanced and clear, very little has been changed from the original tape, i've just removed a small amount of hiss, S.D was very keen on high speed dubbing and never hid the fact, that was always a bone of contention between us but if you received tapes from this trader then rest assured they were copied at X2 or X4....shame but that's the simple truth.

Gig ends abruptly after Knockin' on Heavens door, obviously there's a fight because the compare starts
talking about the fact that the football ground is next-door or maybe he's just arranging a quick 5 a side tournament but i don't think so.

Setlist:
First And Last And Always
Body And Soul
Train
Marian
No Time To Cry
Possession
Walk Away
Burn
Emma
Amphetamine Logic
A Rock And A Hard Place
Floorshow
Alice
Body Electric

After finally laying Ministry to rest a couple of years ago Al is back. The venue had been changed from the larger Academy to the Academy 2 but we still had an intense show with video projections throughout. The main set was all newish material but they really got going with the encores and I don't remember ever hearing a Stormtroopers Of Death cover before.

Please do not sell this recording but share freely and enjoy it!

Ghost Dance, Rose Of Avalanche, Midnight Mess, The Three Johns - "The Great DNA Christmas Party", Warehouse, Leeds - 21.12.1987

Another brilliant upload by Egg_Crisis :) Midnight Mess is a kindof "supergroup" made up from members of The Vaynes, Rose Of Avalanche, and others - another bit of undocumented Rose of Avalanche history.

06 Too Many Castles In The Sky
07 Sunshine Of Your Love (33:16)

(Tape flip at 16:48 between Gimme Some Lovin' and Dreamland.  Roseofavalanche.com lists the first song as Darkorjan but when the song first started appearing in the setlist a friend asked a member of the band what the song was called and we were told it was called The Thrash.  The title Darkorjan appears to be a working title or a record company invention based on whatever was written on the unfinished session tapes released as 'In Rock'.  I'm told that Phil claims they only played Sunshine Of Your Love once but I'm told a recording exists of Bradford 30 Jan 88 that also includes the song.)

guitar - Mick Vayne (The Vaynes)
drums  - Mark Thompson (The Rose Of Avalanche)
guitar - Jerry Famous (The Vaynes)
bass   - Kev
special guest - Gregory Peggory [presumably the male vocal on track 3,4,5]

(Midnight mess as a kind-of 'supergroup' made up from members of various local bands.  I don't know who Kev & Gregory Peggory are though.  Midnight Mess did another gig a long time after this one, from memory it'd be somewhere around August 1987 give or take a couple of months. I didn't go to that one.)

The moment you were all waiting for, TSOM concert from last weekend, with special guest Lisa Cuthbert, who sang Backing vocals in some songs and did a solo version of  This Corrosion on the piano. This new (old?) versions of Dominion and Temple Of Love (reminding the late Ofra Haza) are quite refreshing and in a way make up for the lack of new material from the band. A special round of applause to Cyberbio for sending me the recording to premiere here on DCR, you're the best :) Excellent sound in my opinion.
