Sprung Aus Den Wolken - Rock Rendez Vous, Lisboa, Portugal - 13.06.1989 (Flac)

The Berlin-based Sprung Aus Den Wolken were part of the "Geniale Dilletanten"-movement in the early 80's along with Einstürzende Neubauten and M.D.K. They made a couple of records on their own Faux Pas and Les Disques Du Soleil Et De L'Acier. Their song "Pas Attendre" was used on Wim Wenders' "Wings of Desire" movie and became some kind of underground hit.

So, you can imagine the excitement that it was when we heard that they were coming to Portugal, they were the next best thing to having Neubauten, so the place was crowded (it was very small, 500 people inside and you couldn't move). My friend BTT recorded this concert because it was very dificult to find their records in Portugal at the time, it seemed the only way of listening to them again.

The concert itself was more than 20 years ago, so I have very little memories, but from what I hear in the recording it seems to have been a happening, 1 hour and a half long of performance, with lots of improvisation during some songs, and the crowd is going wild. The sound is very good, again for a recording made on a walkman.

I did my best with the setlist, maybe someone can help with the missing titles?

Notes:
Everyone who was anyone was at this gig. Saw nearly every record shop owner in town there! and a lot of Melbourne band members. Of course, a lottt of black.
Standing in a nice sweet spot with the Church Audio mics firing with a clean shot straight at the right stack with balanced bass. Took my bulky Church Audio preamp for this one as theres not much in the way of security at the door checking so i didnt need to go too stealth. Kinda helped the recording. Vocal was all over the place in the mix, verses were classic Sisters where you cant hear a thing over the guitars and then the choruses were too loud. Kinda their style really. ie crap mixing.
A nice clean recording with no talking from yours truely. Honestly i was not blown away by the gig as there was no drummer so not a lot of vibe on stage, just a Wally Wood-duck dood nodding his head up the back of the stage behind his two apple laptop screens looking like he was checking his email for the whole gig. I suppose he was "doin the drums". You can tell from the recording that theres no live drums. The snares lack that "live punch" and overall it sounds like the album playing in the background. Some great songs tho overall.

OK folks, my tape is titled with " Hamburger Punknacht 1980, but I think the correct date could  be

24.02.79 but I«m not sure.

Anyway, this one was taped by my old schoolfriend Sšnke Sievers in cooperation with

the legendary Frank Stiller  ( both were members of the band "DM"   ( D-Mark )  from

Kiel !!!!!!! )


You can hear Sšnke Sievers asking someone , if he can continue the taping while

he wanted to buy some beers.


Funny info for our german user:


Sšnke, Frank und ich besuchten damals das Gymnasium in Kiel, Mettenhof.

Es gab dort ( wie auch fast Ÿberall ) eine Projektgruppe.

Ich machte glaube ich, irgendwas mit kochen, während  Sšnke und Frank

stundenlang auf dem Flur rumsassen.

Dieses Projekt nannten die 2 (intellektuellen) :

"Betteln im Gang" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was die Lehrer lange zum Nachdenken veranlasste........................


Also nochmals ein Dank an beide fŸrs tapen und dafŸr mir ihre Tapes zu vermachen.


Frank besass hunderte selbstaufgenommene Bänder  ( durfte sogar mal bei "Can" sein

Tapedeck ans Mischpult anschließen ), aber da es bei 3 x die Bude ausbrannte,

ist leider etliches vernichtet.
