NOTES:
Following festival opener Jah Wobble, it's time for something completely
different: Chris & Cosey.
For those who don't know, Chris & Cosey is one of the aliases of Chris Carter
and Cosey Fanni Tutti, many moons ago (founding) members of seminal industrial
oddball collective, Throbbing Gristle.
Anno 2014, they have updated an assortment of their post-TG electronic work
for the modern age. The result is a flavour of techno, overlaid with Tutti's
vocals.
On stage, Carter controls most of the gadgetry, while Tutti sings, plays a
futuristic-looking guitar, and twiddles the occasional knob and dial.
You'll hear some static buzzing between songs, which I can assure you was
audible over the PA and not the result of a faulty connection in your taper's
equipment.
The sound in the venue was superb and the recording does nothing to detract
from that. Fans of the duo's work should be pleased with this addition to
their collection.
As a non-follower of Chris & Cosey's work, compiling the set-list for this
show was painful. I've managed to figure 12/13ths of it out, so if someone
else can reveal the title of the second track, we'll have a complete set.
