NOTES:
This was my second time seeing Peter Hook and his band (the first time, back in Dec. 2010, they weren't know as "The Light" yet), and I was ecstatic about it. Being a huge JD/New Order fan, and knowing that New Order themselves don't play the deep cuts at their shows, I couldn't wait to hear Peter Hook and the band bust out some New Order greats, even if it isn't technically the real band or whatever. The opening Joy Division set was okay but it was lacking some "Digital" and "Disorder" in my opinion ("Dead Souls" would have been great too of course), therefore the highlight of the night was defintely the two New Order albums back to back. And as much as I love Bernard and New Order, I have to say Peter's versions of "The Pefect Kiss" and "Bizzare Love Triangle" are 100x better. It was a little odd they didn't end the encore with "Love Will Tear Us Apart", but what can ya do? I was a little worried about how this recording would turn out, given I had never even been to this venue before (let alone a showin San Diego period) and I had to sorta hide my mics with a hoodie on (must have been the only person inside wearing a zipped up hoodie) but I actually think it turned out great! So happy I had decided to bring out the recording gear for this (I almost didn't). I went with two friends, and they knew I was recording, but they still tend to lean over and whisper/talk near me every once in a while, but it doesn't happen that often. Enjoy, and I hope Peter Hook and the Light make it out to the desert in April...

EN remaster notes
1.1.2015
It's Andy Gill's 58th birthday and the birth of a new year with new possibilities as well, so I rang it all in after midnight by sitting down with this wild Go4 set from Hofstra University on Long Island, aired by WLIR-FM in 1983 on the HARD tour. I'm pretty heretical when it comes to this band, in that I really like the last two records they made in the 1980s when their moment was deemed "over" by the always-positive and respectful music press. Anyway it's a great sounding master chrome cassette capture that was a prime candidate to get really popping, especially the sultry snap of Sara Lee's boombastic bass. I feel that the Sound Forge graphic dynamics tools are great for these FM things because they really blow them up to a big-screen type of presence and serve to somewhat liberate them from their implicit compression, and this one was no exception. Whereas before it sounded great (yet a little dull and lacking life), now it's razor sharp and honed to a gleaming perfection, or close to it anyways. Have a listen and see what your ears say, and of course a very Happy Birthday to the one and only Andy Gill as well as the very best 2015 to all of you reading this :)

Some words from the BBC:
Documentary telling the amazing story of how a group of reclusive Rhineland experimentalists called Kraftwerk became one of the most influential pop groups of all time. It is a celebration of the band featuring exclusive live tracks filmed at their Tate Modern shows in London in February 2013, interwoven with expert analysis, archive footage of the group going back to 1970, newsreel of the era and newly shot cinematic evocations of their obsessions. With contributions from techno pioneer Derrick May, Can founder Holger Czukay, DJ and remixer Francois Kevorkian, graphic design guru Neville Brody, writer Paul Morley, band photographer Peter Boettcher, Tate Modern curator Caroline Wood and others.

Some Great Reward Tour
Incomplete pro-shot video
Lineage: French TV station (?) -> probably VHS -> unknown transfer -> DVD
A good pro-shot video of the Some Great Reward tour. Audio is excellent quality, but sounds strange during "Shake The Disease" since one channel was damaged and the station apparently pasted the studio version over one channel. Some incorrect samples are played during "Everything Counts" (listen @ 35:06 and 37:25). This DVD had several TV playback performances as bonuses, but I have not uploaded them with this torrent.

[soundboard]'
David Bowie played an exclusive gig for less than 100 people in London - and filmed the show for his young daughter.
The 55-year-old performed the special gig at the BBC's Maida Vale studios in west London, which was recorded for a Radio 2 special to be broadcast next month. He performed the track Bewlay Brothers - from his 1971 album Hunky Dory - live for the first time, but had to use lyric sheets to keep up, because, he said, "there are more words in this than War and Peace". Bowie used a hand-held camera to capture parts of the show for his two-year-old daughter Alexandria back home with his wife Iman in New York.
"This is just to show my daughter exactly what sort of person I associate with," he said, focusing his lens on the fans. Of the 10 songs he played, most came from his recent Heathen album. But he also played Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill's Alabama Song - which was a single in 1980 - and Look Back in Anger from the Lodger album. He also played 1974 single Rebel Rebel, telling the audience: "This is one that I said I'd never play again - and true to my track record, here it comes."
A personal favourite due to (inevitably) The Bewlay Brothers, the version I had sounded a lit bittle off ... so I:

It was webcast, so it sounds pretty good in the first place. But I fixed all the little hiccups that plague all webcasts. Plus I worked a little magic to bring up the vocals and synths, because in the original mix the drums are way too loud. And I fixed the overall level.

Information:
On stage, Terminal Gods form an imposing line. Like desperate outlaws facing down an angry mob. Backed by a rack of drum-machine hardware and armed with an arsenal of frantically overdriven pop songs, the band stand in a smoke shrouded musical no man’s land. Finding themselves halfway between the uncompromising, raucous hard rock of the 70s, and the cold, new wave beats of 80s, Terminal Gods are the genuine desperadoes of London’s emerging underbelly of dark dive bar rock bands.

NOTES:
We're all the way through to the final instalment of Kraftwerk's eight night
residency at the Paradiso and it's the turn of the band's most recent studio
album, the 10½ year old 'Tour De France', to be the focus of attention.
I was expecting to feel exhausted by this stage of the proceedings, but I have
to say that I'm actually fresher after seven gigs than I was after three.
I collect another wristband and my final pair of 3D glasses and, already
feeling a little wistful, head into the Paradiso to rig up for the show.
I check in with Jürgen from Frankfurt and Wibo from Rotterdam, shake hands
with the two Germans from Leipzig (I can't remember their names) and say hello
to the Parisian woman who travelled here alone for these eight gigs after
seeing all eight of the Paris residency last November.
It's starting to feel like a family affair, but that will come to an abrupt
end tonight, when we all disperse to the four winds again.
It was back in 1983 that Kraftwerk scored a moderate commercial hit with the
original 'Tour De France' single, but it would take another 20 years for
Hütter and cohorts to realise an entire album around the theme.
This is one of my favourites of the band's albums. It's certainly also one of
the most thematically consistent.
If you're familiar with the album's track list, you might be wondering where
'Tour De France Étape 3' is in tonight's show. Well, as far as I can tell,
it's not played; at least, not really played.
Kraftwerk have the tricky and confusing habit of reusing musical phrases
across multiple tracks, so whilst there are certainly themes from 'Étape 3'
present in tonight's set, they're more obviously ascribed to other tracks.
'Titanium', too, isn't really played. Although it's really just a slower
variation of 'Aéro Dynamik', I can't hear any evidence of it in that track
as played tonight.
All in all, this means that tonight's execution of the album is a good 15
minutes shorter than its studio counterpart.
As for the 'best of' section of the show, 'Airwaves' once again vacates the
premises for the welcome return of 'Neon Lights'.
There are a couple of surprises during the show tonight.
Firstly, Ralf Hütter addresses the Paradiso in very good Dutch to announce
that 'Trans-Europe Express' was performed in public for the first time in this
very venue, all the way back in 1976.
Just listen to the roar of the crowd when they realise that Hütter is actually
about to speak. You'd think the clouds were parting and that the old man with
the grey beard was about to address them.
Secondly, 'Autobahn' is conspicuously skipped during the main set. It turns
out to have been saved for a third encore, the only night on which one is
given. Not only that, but it's the vastly more satisfying 14 minute version,
too. That makes this evening's concert the longest of the residency by quite a
margin.
I hadn't bargained on that. Luckily, I'm running a new set of rechargeable AA
batteries that I've fully burned in, and which are thus working at maximum
capacity, so the show is never in danger.
That really would be quite a pisser, if I managed to blow the recording of the
residency at this late stage by running out of batteries during the final song
of the final night's performance.
This superb rendition of 'Autobahn' is a magnificent and fitting climax to not
just another fantastic concert, but to what has been an amazing residency from
start to finish. Here, exactly one week ago, Kraftwerk kicked off the first
show with 'Autobahn'. A week later, they close the eighth and final show with
the same song.
I can hardly express how much I've enjoyed these eight shows, and the
experience has been significantly enhanced by the fans I've met along the way.
Once again, the recording was made under the same conditions and with the same
parameters as the previous ones. The mastering is again (almost) identical, as
is the resultant listening experience.
Scans of the ticket and both sides of the glasses envelope are also included.
With this, my ambition to document a full catalogue, eight show Kraftwerk
residency with consistent sound and in excellent quality comes to fruition.
It's given me an immense amount of satisfaction to compile and present this
set of recordings. I hope people will continue to enjoy them for years to
come.
