The Stompcrash was born in Milan in 2002 as a darkwave project inspired by the gothic stories of writers like Lovecraft, Poe, Kafka. Tales about love and death.
The first album “Requiem Rosa” was released in 2007 as the result of researching melodies and atmospheres to give special emphasis to every story told. The aim of the band was to catch all the energies and emotions felt and put them in songs. “Requiem Rosa” contains some classic like “Dorian”, “The London Fog” and “Like a noise” and achieved great reviews from all the gothic scene all over the world.
After involvements in compilations from Greece, Russia and Germany in 2009 a new song called “The Buried Cat” was released for german magazine “Dark Spy vol. 21” and the same year the band was included in the english goth journalist Mick Mercer’s book titled “Music To Die For”.
In 2010 the band start to look for new musical directions writing new songs and began the collaboration with Alkemist Fanatix Management, in 2011 the agreement with DreamCell11 for a new album is signed.
The Stompcrash is back with a whole new sound, more fine and conscious, 12 new tracks in a new album called “Directions”, an album about love, sorrow, regret, about blood on the wheels of history, about how in life “behind each corner new directions lie in wait”.

The Swedish post-punk/shoegaze band Principe Valiente mesmerized their listeners with their exceptional self-titled debut album in 2011, resulting in an extensive and successful tour throughout Europe. Having shared the stage with Peter Hook and The Light, Peter Murphy (Bauhaus) and playing at the WGT Festival in Leipzig (Germany), the band started to prepare for their second album "Choirs of Blessed Youth".
Last year a part of their new work was unveiled with the singles "Take Me With You" and "She Never Returned", a collaboration with producer Niklas Björklund and star producer Ed Buller who was responsible for mixing the two singles.
With "Choirs of Blessed Youth" Principe Valiente have managed to make an irresistibly beautiful and intense continuation of what was started in their debut album. Resting in the shadowy arms of melancholy, their re?ned sound glistens with a coating of elegant darkness captivating the listener’s heart.

Information:
“into the sea, we’ll bleed”
Originally formed in the late 80's, The Last Cry hail from the Brighton area of the UK’s south coast. Through several lineup changes up until the early 90's, they forged their way on the Goth scene with their Nephilim/Cult-esque sound as one of the genre’s rising stars. And then, like my Counting the Mad, came the crash.
After nearly a decade of silence, the band re-emerged in 2002 with a rejigged lineup, and a honed and more precise sound. Original drummer Andrew Birch took over the frontman’s shoes, Tim Green exchanged his synths for a Les Paul guitar, with only bassist Chris Carey staying in position. Their brand of dark and atmospheric rock is by no means a dirge, and is easily accessible to anyone with an ear for decent music. Having caught them live recently, I can only describe their sound as ‘imagine what the result would be if the Cure and Depeche Mode were to collaborate’. Birch’s vocals are strong, clear and reminiscent of Gahan and Vanian at times, but the pure emotional turmoil of his lyrics and onstage persona give him the edge over most other performers in his genre. As a spectator to his torment, you can actually feel this man’s pain.
Being a three piece band, The Last Cry are by no means backed my a mere ‘boom boom-kah’ drum track. Their carefully crafted backing machine consists of realistic rhythms, noirish keyboards, and a few vocal harmonies. Being as Birch and Green had previous experience on drums and keys respectively, this has given the band the authenticity of having ‘live’ players on the backing.
If you get a chance to see them play live, don’t miss it! Their debut album “Walking to the Edge” is available online, and is worth every penny. Tracks I recommend are, “Cross of Hope”, “Rebekka”, and the magnificently anthemic “Out of the Sky”. The Last Cry are a band that prove that Goth isn’t dead, it just might have a new nephew on the block.

Information:
Since it was given birth back in 1998 the GOLDEN APES has been known as a shimmering gem in the independent wave- and gothic-scene. It is the difficulty of a rigid definition und their versatility, that provides the band a status stamped by requirement and content, making them an important constant within the musical landscape, that lies beyond the common mainstream.
From the bandname, borrowed from the writings of Friedrich Nietzsche, through to the powerful picture language and surrealistic items, which are basics of the bands oeuvre, conducted by Peer Lebrecht´s poetic lyrics, which are thematically on a restless scout among melancholy and mystic, emotion and philosophy, sustained by catchy but complex arrangements, which avoid to bow to borders and conventions for keeping a emotional depth between melody and emotion, between roughness and longing You can discover every listening in a different new way.
The band has always admitted itself to the significant artists of the scene the members grew up with, but without pointing out someone especial-you will find those moments from time to time listening carefully to the music. Coincidentally by publishing “Denying The Towers Our Words Are Falling From …” at the latest as their current full length album, GOLDEN APES in some ways found themselves emancipated from these influences, but only to create an individual, distinctive own style within that universe.
There are six full-length albums published until now, which show a continuous and passionate development in GOLDEN APES’ work and if you spend some time to engage yourself in the lyrics and the whole band’s cosmos, you’ll find what has ever made the GOLDEN APES unique: a depth and richness of detail, that lets you space for dreaming and inspiration for your own thinking. In this respect, the band not only musically, but also aesthetically and intellectually assigns their individual position in the scene.

Information:
Completely unphased by trends and inclination for ingratiation to the listener Artaud Seth in his role as mastermind behind the MERCIFUL NUNS continues to traverse his chosen musical path. Produced brilliantly not only in the context of present demands but quite simply seminal for timeless great music. Goth as a mixture of widescreen epic and massive walls of guitar sound, sacred choir chants, rattling drum computer and Artaud's sepulchral voice permeating through every fibre of one's body, at times plunging its intrinsic despair deep into the heart of the listener. MERCIFUL NUNS are much more than just the sole legitimate successor of the three musicians' legendary former band GARDEN OF DELIGHT! The NUNS have already attained cult status and must be regarded as seminal for intelligent listening pleasure!

Information:
The Wars is a New Wave band from Berlin formed in 2008 featuring Chris Kowski on vocals/guitar, Gernot Pohle on bass and Felix Roll on drums.
The three-piece is considered a 2nd generation Post-Punk Revival project that took its cues from bands like The Chameleons, NEU!, Joy Division and Bauhaus but is also influenced by groups like U2 or My Bloody Valentine.
Following the success of their late 2009 released EP "Rift" (Wintergrain) which earned The Wars Band of the Month/Album of the Week on New York based KoolRockRadio.com, Act of the Month on Popmonitor.de and Top 10 entries on various internet radio stations the band received features on many indie rock sites (djbynar.com, darkerradio.com, schallgrenzen.de, coast-is-clear.blogspot.com etc).
Early 2010 the album's track "Sequence" appeared on Thomas Thyssen's compilation "Darkness Before Dawn 2" (UpScene/Indigo) which featured artists like John Foxx (Ultravox), The Invincilbe Spirit and The Exploding Boy.
Within the same year The Wars were invited to support shows for UK Decay, Ulterior and Erland & The Carnival.
Fall 2010 saw their latest release "Succubus" (Wintergrain) which instantly became Single of the Week on KRR and appeared on "Advanced Electronics 8" (SPV/Synthetic Symphony) featuring acts like KMFDM, Deine Lakaien und Covenant.
Chris Kowski, former lead singer of Lunar Bay who had worked with various known artists like Gunnar Spies of “MIA.”, Christian Neander (Selig) and the Steve Albini-produced Band “Spitting off Tall Buildings” grew up on the island of Sylt - an atmospheric place well known for its exposed situation in the North Sea and its ongoing loss of land during storm tides. He would spent most of his time exploring the impressionist landscapes getting increasingly fascinated by the natural beauty and violence surrounding him.
Reflections of these bizarre images are heavily present in his sweeping guitar sounds and cold nihilistic lyrics building a strong synergy between Kowski’s interpretation of New Wave and Pohle’s droning overdriven bass guitar.
Pohle and Kowski were introduced to each other in early 2008 during a recording session in Berlin of Wave Pop band Lunar Bay. During breaks the two soon discovered they had a lot in common concerning favourite bands, arts and movies. They decided to write and record some tracks at Kowski’s Wintergrain Studio.
Multi-instrumentalist Gernot Pohle, a legend of the late 90s Potsdam scene, took the part of playing bass guitar using a very unusual set up. Supporting his style of playing bass like a lead guitar he composed a set up of pure guitar amplification. This has become one of The Wars’ trademarks and has turned out to be a very popular element at their shows hypnotizing the audience.
In contrast to Pohle’s purist analog sound Kowski used no guitar amps at all. His signal was processed by the computer based Guitar Rig technology and Guitar synthesizers giving the guitar unlimited options of creating rich layered textures. This and his unconventional playing style gives their live performances a unique, stereophonic and ultra-wide sound and the impression of invisible extra guitarists and keyboarders being involved.
The resulting strong material convinced the duo to start a band and to release their favourite four tracks as the “Borderline EP” on their own label.
Due to many analogies to World War II and Cold War era in Kowski’s lyrics they decided to name the band The Wars. It also refers to the Bran Theory and its aspect of the universe eating itself.
In late 2009 The Wars recorded their second effort – the 8 track “Rift EP” and released it again on their own Wintergrain label. The Songs turned out to be more melodic and the overall sound included a big touch of psychedelia earning the record an Album Of The Week slot on Kool Rock Radio in May 2010. Its song "Sequence" also appeared on "Darkness Before Dawn 2" (UpScene/Indigo).
The spin off single Transit topped KRR's charts and The Wars subsequently became their Band Of The Month/Most Played Act.
Follow up release "England" received Beauty of the Month on Radio Shadowplay.
Early 2011 drummer Felix Roll joined the Band as a full member replacing session drummer Bruce Pankowski. The now trio instantly recorded "Succubus" a driving electronic oriented dance track which became Single of the Week on KoolRockRadio.com again and also appeared on "Advanced electronics 8" (SPV/Synthetic Symphony).

Red Sun Revival is an alternative/gothic rock band which was formed in London, England in 2011. The line-up consists of vocalist/guitarist Rob Leydon, guitarist Matt Helm, bassist Panos Theodoropoulos, and violinist Christina Emery. The band’s sound is defined by sonorous vocals with intricate, often sparkly guitars which float over driving bass lines and weave amongst haunting violin harmonies. The sound has echoes of the orchestral and choral aspects of film soundtracks and often incorporates elements of folk music.
Red Sun Revival is currently preparing an EP for release in 2014. The EP was mixed and produced by Steve Carey of ‘The Eden House’, ‘NFD’ and ‘This Burning Effigy’, who Red Sun Revival also worked together with on their debut album.
Red Sun Revival recorded a nine-track debut album entitled ‘Running from the Dawn’, featuring songs originally composed by Rob Leydon over a three-year period between 2007 and 2010. 2011 was spent developing and perfecting the material and in preparing the band for live work. Towards the end of 2011, all instrumentation had been recorded in Rob’s home studio in Bicester, Oxfordshire. Early in 2012, all vocals were recorded at Earth Terminal Studios in Odiham, Hampshire by Louis DeWray of goth rock band ‘NOSFERATU’ .
The album was mixed and produced by Steve Carey and features guest recordings from violinist Bob Loveday of Bob Geldof‘s band, ‘The Eden House’, and numerous other collaborations. ‘Running from the Dawn’ was mastered by the twice Grammy nominated sound engineer Andy Jackson, producer of Pink Floyd’s Division Bell album. Photography for the album and website was undertaken by Taya Uddin, who has worked with numerous high profile musicians. In September 2012 Red Sun Revival was signed to music label afmusic. The album was distributed in the UK/RoW through Resurrection Records. The band has received very positive reviews, including in Orkus (Germany), Dominion Magazine (UK), and Static Magazin (Austria/Germany). Red Sun Revival is looking to book gigs both at home and abroad and eagerly anticipate interest from promoters, DJs and audiences.

She Past Away is a band from Turkey described as the “new dark-wave” in articles and reviews throughout the world. Their music compiles elements from the dark, sensational side of 80’s, often associated with bands like The Sisters of Mercy, The Cure, Joy Division, Clan of Xymox, Grauzone, and DAF. SPA brings back that era with today’s approach and Turkish lyrics which gives the band that unique edge.
The band was formed in 2006 and released the digital EP "Kasvetli Kutlama" in 2010. Debut album "Belirdi Gece" was released in 2012. Available in vinyl format by Fabrika Records, CD format by Dead Scarlet Records, and digital format on all major mp3 stores.

Information:
NFD are a London-based hybrid Goth/Rock band formed just over 10 years ago out of the ashes of Nefilim and Sensorium. Peter "Bob" White (Sensorium) and Simon Rippin (Sensorium/Nefilim) teamed up with founding Fields of the Nephilim member Tony Pettitt and at this point NFD was truly realized!
Long serving and integral member Chris Milden maintains rhythm guitar duties while Luca Mazzucconi (Drums) & James Mcilroy (Lead Guitar) both of whom joined the ranks in 2009 complete a formidable line up of some of the best musicians on the scene.
NFD gigged extensively all over the world and released new material on a regular basis from 2003 - 2009 playing at festivals such as Whitby Gothic Weekend, Dark City, Witchfest, M'era Luna, Wave-Gotik-Treffen and Zillo. As well as headlining their own concerts. They have played as support band for Skinny Puppy, The 69 Eyes, Mortiis, Umbra et Imago and The Mission.
Now returning from a break of over 3 years NFD are set to stir things up again with their own brand of rocket fueled Goth Rock, never afraid to mix things up a bit while remaining true to their roots!
The Band Lineup on Dark Spring Festival was a bit improvised because James McIlroy couldn't play on this event + several tech issues so Bob was a bit pissed off after only 45 Minutes they stopped playing with many songs left unplayed on the set list.
Former FOTN Bass Player John Carter left the band one week before the event so the bass came from drumcomputer which didn't work very well over the time. So in overall the sound was very bad with overexposed computer bassline and Luca's drum monitor went off function several times and i couldnt fix it with EQ in postproduction because the sound from source went too bad. So this what you hear is that what happened!
You should give NFD another chance with a more stable live setup. New Album "Waking The Dead" is in final production, planned Release in Autumn 2014.

Switzerlands most succesful Goth/Wave Band did the headliner on this event.
Their typical powerful, bass heavy sound filled the area and enforced all people to dance.
I really like the newer songs from Iscariot Blues, the synths are one step in the background and do2 not sound so cheesy compared to the older material.
On track 7 Michael Sele explained they are not allowed to play "Beautiful Mind" in Swiss radio stations because they thinking the song is bad for people's psyche.
So they wrote "The Dark Revolution" about it.
The song sounds like OMD from the 80's ;) nice groove.
Kingdoms Of Cancer nice wall of bass - play it loud :)

If you like the Early Killing Joke i think you will like this band. Very good performance and sound.
The Last Days Of Jesus is a Slovak Progressive Goth Rock band.
They formed in Bratislava in May 1993 to combine the spirit of old school Batcave and Deathrock with new musical sounds and patterns.
The name originates from a headline band member MaryO read in an American newspaper.
MaryO formed the band with Vajco on drums and Sulo, an organist, then they collected Feššy and Andrea, an early bass player.
During 1994 this line-up recorded their first demotape and played several shows around Slovakia culminating in a support slot for Das Ich and Faith and the Muse.
They continued to tour throughout 1995 including Germany with Marquee Moon and Forthcoming Fire and completed another demo tape, gaining considerable interest within the European goth scene.
A few lineup changes have occurred since then and apart from bringing in a session bass player for their studio albums their current lineup continues to record and play live.
The band has made many (mainly gothic) festival appearances almost every year since their formation including Wave-Gotik-Treffen five times.
In 2003 and 2004 they did two mini-tours of the UK which included Beyond the Veil and Dead and Buried.
Also in 2004 they were featured in a Slovak music TV show which resulted in their only live album to date. On the side MaryO organises regular events under BatCave.SK

Two tragic deaths within a year, not the easiest start for a new finnish goth/post-punk band Silent Scream.
The story goes back in 1996 when Antti Lautala and Henry Waldén formed a band called Varjo (a shadow in english).
Varjo was influeced by gothic rock, post-punk and ambient but it differed from other gothic bands by the finnish lyrics.
At the beginning of the 21st century Varjo was the most successful gothic band with finnish lyrics.
After the third album there were changes in line-up but also a tragedy: ex-keyboard player disappeared and after a year and a half he was found dead.
After those difficult times Varjo made new songs, supported New Model Army and was ready to record the fifth album.
Two weeks before the studio Henry died in a fire accident and that ended the story of Varjo.
Four months after the funerals the trio recorded the last album "Viimeinen näytös" and it was released in January 2010 (Stupido Records)
After the recordings Antti, Matthew and Jukka decided to continue with a new band name and new songs. It was also natural to change the language and write lyrics in english. Silent Scream will go further to the core of post-punk with influences like Killing Joke, Amebix etc.
In the same year 2010 Silent Scream released the debute album "In the Cinema" (Stupido Records). Outside Finland Silent Scream has played in Berlin and Moscow. They have also played as a support for Brendan Perry (Dead Can Dance).
The second album "Public Execution" was released in autumn 2012 and they played as a support for UK Decay in Helsinki.

Band:
Hervé Carles : Bass Guitar
Frank Ligabue : Drums
Andy Julia : Vocals
Nicolas Mons: Guitars
The first act was my main reason to visit this Festival, the first time i saw Soror Dolorosa live.
Intense performance, very good sound and the stage appearance of Andy Julia in the dry ice was unforgetable.
With "No More Heroes" Soror Dolorosa have created another monument to the great spirit of the 80s.
Like their highly acclaimed debut "Severance", their sophomore albums "Blind Scenes", "No More Heroes" contain nothing but excellent songs that are deeply rooted in the 80s Gothic Rock scene and hint at their main influences, cult acts like The Cure, Bauhaus or The Sisters Of Mercy.
However, Soror Dolorosa don't copy the originals. They don't need to. They keep growing to eventually become one of the cult acts themselves. The consistently high quality of all their material in the past and on the new album, as well as their flawless performance in the studio and on stage, attest to the tremendous talent of this band.

09 - Age Of Love
10 - Into Her Desert
*= Working Title, unreleased
Band:
Zulu - Vocals
Keule - Guitars
Slash - Guitars
Dead - Bass
Kaiser - Drums
Information:
Reptyles's gig at the K17 was sadly influenced by some tecnical issues during first 3 songs, but they gave everything to give the audience (which was sadly also poor) a good overview of their recent releases, including Just Another Message back in the set, and also a sneak peak of upcoming songs.
“They’ll try to scare us, honey, with weapons they can’t use/I’ll sing back from the archives a song I wrote for you” - the defiant lines from the new record's opening song, “Lost in '95”, characterise German goth rock stalwarts REPTYLE better than any statement of intent. Founded in 1999, at a time a which the genre was considered all but dead, the quintet has made a convincing point of the merits of being undead – without all mainstream industry support, instead building on scores of gigs in Germany and abroad, the loyalty of a select, unswerving fan base, and the quality of their acclaimed full-length albums, “A High and Lonely Place” („Powerful guitars, sinister vocals, driving drums and bass lines, all swathed in atmospheric keyboards – total hit!“ - Zillo magazine, 2004) and “Consequence” (“Reptyle goth and rock for all they're worth“ - Orkus magazine, 2007). Indeed, attitude is important but not everything, as this overdue new offering proves.
REPTYLE have honed their considerable songwriting skills, evident in more diverse, yet more focused tracks. Consider the strutting opener quoted above; the spacious and epic “Into Her Desert”; the breathy, yet gutsy groove of “Heroes of the Working Dead”; and so on. Speaking of focus: Zulu's vocals are grimmer, yet more intimate, both in terms of content and delivery; the guitars combine punkish outbursts with shoegaze atmospheres more effectively than ever; the production is more transparent than on any earlier REPTYLE release; and no, the addition of a live drummer doesn't harm at all.
If this, indeed, is “old school” goth rock, it will inadvertently provide the new century with a new example – and REPTYLE, hopefully, with success beyond defiance.

Information:
First gig where Golden Apes played their new masterpiece "riot" in full length on a concert, this band has its manifistation on sound and details now.
They let speak the music, the lyrics, and the atmosphere within the song for itself no additional words between the songs, just let it flow like a full story.

Information:
Age Of Heaven filled the Headliner Spot on this evening at the K17, and they were right to do that.
Everything was fine through the set with no excuses, set even longer then Golden Apes and it was one of their best gigs with the new lineup so far.
Spring 1991, Leipzig. Three friends come together with the idea of forming a band.
For the moment they just meet to make a lot of noise and call it rehearsal.
No beginning is an easy one. So it wasn't for them either. It was J.U., who had already written some lyrics by then, who started composing the first songs.
Although he worked on a synthesizer the sound of the band was guitar oriented from the beginning on.
The style was clear it should be Gothic Rock with its roots in the late 80's.
Whitsun 1992 a phenomenon started, the first Wave-Gothic-Treffen took place at Leipzig.
AGE OF HEAVEN played as the opener at the first WGT.
The show was an impressive success at an overcrowded hall in front of an outstanding audience.
Whitsun 2011 the time has come. Age On Heaven were back on stage at the 20. Wave Gothic Festival (WGT) in Leipzig, the special opening show with the first WGT lineup including The Eternal Afflict and Love Like Blood. Sadly i forgot to tape AOH only recorded the LLB show.
On 3rd December 2012 they played their 20th Anniversary in Leipzig too with a very long set and some special guests.
