TRANSFER/EDITING NOTES:
I'd like to begin by thanking j-blokhed for this recording. Here is an amazing Clash show from late '78. This was a great period for the band who are in fine form and are complemented here by an excellent soundboard source. I decided to remaster this recording since I liked the performance so much and wanted to hear it in as high quality as possible. For the remastering, I applied virtually the same edits to all tracks. A couple of tracks were slightly different in frequency response and were adjusted accordingly. There were also a couple of drop-outs which I corrected as good as possible. No noise reduction of any kind has been used here. A low amount of hiss is present after equalizing but not enough to be a distraction or even heard at most levels. The equalization used is light in general as the recording only needed a cut in a few resonating frequencies and a slight boost in some higher frequencies. I hope you like what I've done and consider this an improvement over the original source. Enjoy!

Here's another SBD - and one of my favorites. The Clash played three shows around New Year's 1979 that were recorded for possible use in the film Rude Boy. The dates were Dec 28-89, 1978, and Jan 3, 1979.

The first of these shows to fall into collector's hands was a very good audience recording released first on LP, and then on CD, as "Sort It Out". This is NOT that show. The exact dates of these recordings has been in question, but I believe that "Sort It Out" (also released as "USA 1979" [sic] as well as other, later, titles) is in fact Jan 3, 1979. I think that this recording is Dec 28, 1978.

This tape fell into my hands indirectly from an inside source (KV), and was probably 2nd-3rd gen when recorded to CD-R. It has since spread throughout collector's circles, and the artwork included here is strictly homemade "fan club".

This is one of the very best - enjoy!

An incomplete version of this show - ending after Safe European Home - has circulated for many years and was posted to Dime most recently in 2012. This version surfaced last year
and was digitized and circulated by users at the Clash City message boards.

This version includes the full broadcast from that night, including 10 extra songs, a lengthy radio introduction while the announcers wait for the Clash to take the stage (track 1), and an interview
conducted backstage after the show. At 34 songs it is one of the longest (maybe the longest) Clash shows. Unfortunately, 3 songs (Washington Bullets, Tommy Gun, and White Man in
Hammersmith Palais) are truncated due to the radio announcer talking over the music. This was also present on the earlier circulating source.
All other songs are complete. The crowd was apparently very rowdy that night and there are numerous adlibs and breaks between songs due to Joe Strummer trying to stop fights or calm the audience down.

mp3 samples are in comments. I'm posting it here with permission of the user who digitized the show; I don't have details on
what exactly he or she did with regard to remastering. Considering that it's a 36 year old AM radio broadcast, it sounds quite good.

Hi there! After closing both my Master and Special series I took a break from seeding, enjoying life and most of all preparing for a new series! This is not going to be as frequent as my previous ones, I'll be seeding shows from time to time so don't expect massive volumes here.

Why a "vintage" series? Because music in the 70's and 80's was really something...so different, so special with "that" kind of sound which you don't find anymore. That was the era of real music without the internet, of long tours and enjoyable live shows spanning from metal to new wave, progressive, jazz, fusion, pop. So many bands were born and disappeared during those
two decades.

I am then celebrating the 70's and the 80's and their unmistakeable sound in this LDB Vintage Series. You will find many bands I have never seeded in the past but that I still enjoy listening to. Most of these come from low generation tapes that were traded around that period, many radio broadcasts and overall lots of surprises.

Coming to volume 10 already, and already covered quite a wide range of "sounds" of 70's and 80's spanning across reggae, heavy metal, new wave, gothic rock, folk and country. Punk was missing, though. Being a progressive rock big fan, I confess not being very comfortable with punk
and its "two notes" songs that at the end gave a hard time to genesis, ELP, Gentle Giant or Jethro Tull. Nevertheless its contribution cannot be neglected and bands like The Clash are somehow in the history of rock. By the 80's they lost their wild nature and positioned them in a more "poppy" fashion. This is taken from that period, from a nice radio broadcast in Belgium, which was basically the beginning of the band's disintegration. They would last 4 more years before splitting up.

Sounwise this is an almost perfect quality and the band is still on fire. I believe this is one of the earliest shows with Terry Chimes on the drumkit since he had rejoined the band.

A riot of their own' , which featured snippets of Clash concerts from 1977 to 1983.
I have removed the commercially released material, and basically cut and

OK heres a cool special from BBC TV in 1982, "Something Else's Just The Music" contains a collection of highlights from BBC TV's youth programme Something Else. I have included the whole programme as it was broadcast even though its not all punk, its nice to have a complete show, especially one as rare as this.
