A live session on Radio 5's "The Way Out".  They performed 4 songs from their new album "Trade Test Transmissions" and an old classic.

Radio 5 was broadcast on medium wave, but was also available on the Astra satellite (analogue) which is where I made this recording from.  It was only available as one sound channel so it's mono.

Spectrally, medium wave recordings usually cut off at 5000-6000 Hz depending what frequency you're at (at least it does in the tests I conducted).  This one from satellite cuts off at around 11,000 Hz, so not exactly FM quality but it sounds pretty decent.

Hosted by Samantha Meah, broadcast each week from 10:15pm to midnight.
During the inteview Nicholas Parsons can also be heard, he was a guest on the show that week.

A 'What's On' special featuring Buzzcocks and Magazine, broadcast on Granada TV and presented by Tony Wilson. First (and only?) transmission date: July 27th, 1978.

I got this programme years ago as an mpg-file here on Dime. It appears to be a direct copy of the production master, complete with slates. I've created a DVD out of it using TMPGEnc. Here are the technical data as reported by G-Spot:

"'Short Circuit: Live at the Electric Circus' is a compilation album of songs
recorded live at the Electric Circus, Manchester, on the 1st and 2 October 1977,
two concerts marking the last nights of the venue before it closed. Released by
Virgin Records in 1978, the album was originally only available on 10-inch blue,
black, and yellow vinyl.[2][3]
Joy Division performed under their original name Warsaw on the second night, but
the track was credited to Joy Division on the sleeve as they had changed their
name in January 1978.[4]
The album was reissued on CD in 1990 on the Blue Plate label.
The album was the debut release for The Fall; Joy Division self-released their
debut 7" An Ideal for Living just 13 days earlier, and all the other bands had
released debuts in 1977."

OK here is "Top Of The Pops - The Punk Years No2"
Which is made up of mainly first generation VHS videos recorded when
the UK satellite channel UK Gold re-broadcast lots of full episodes,
theres a few that are not from UK Gold but they are OK quality.
I have edited out the presenters talking where i could without losing
too much of the start of the song, this makes it a lot better to watch
as the presenters did go on a fucking lot...

For some reason the quality of this volume seems a little lower than the
first one. These were some of the first DVD's i made after getting a DVD
recorder, i have been going to re-do them at the highest quality which
would mean 5 DVD's instead of just 2 at the least, i will get around to
doing them at some point, just not for a while due to the other stuff i
want to do first, i would suggest getting these until i do the HQ ones.

Created from a first generation cassette copy of an audience recording.  This was recorded by the same person who recorded the support slot by Gang Of Four

(as in, information about his recording equipment is mainly forgotten/lost by me), although some more (although still very limited) information about the recording equipment he was using at the time is available in the description of another slightly earlier Gang Of Four small club show he recorded, details here :-

Both of those are excellent sounding for audience captures from this period, and also so is this one in my estimation, but also please feel free to check out the 1-minute mp3 sample I will be providing below if you need more convincing.
