RE-UPLOAD: Nina Hagen - VHS Video Compilation 1980-1989 (PAL DVD)

Excellent 2 hours compilation! Huge Thanks to Egg_Crisis for sharing this collection here.

Info File:

I left these in the order they were, from the various tapes I transferred them from.
It might have been better to put them in chronological order but I find too much
messing around with the files seems to desync them so I left them as they are.

Cassette(unknown but probably low gen,radio broadcast,TDK D90) > TravisBickle1963 transfer to .wav > Soundforge(normalise,editing) > CDWave(split on sector boundaries) > flac(6)

I had a dilemma over how to track this - the radio DJ's talk over many of the intros - I could have put the track splits after the DJ's finished talking but in the end I decided to track it as if the DJ's aren't there so the intros of each song aren't cut weirdly.

Tape flip between track 11 & 12.

The tape is labelled 22.7.86 but this page confirms Paleo Festival as running from 24th-27th July:
https://yeah.paleo.ch/en/edition/1986
Setlist.fm (although it's user-generated and prone to error like everything else) gives the date as July 24th so we'll go with that one:
https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/nina-hagen/1986/la-prairie-de-colovray-nyon-switzerland-6bc056b2.html

The sound in the right channel dropped very quiet for 48 seconds (from 35:15-36:03), I replaced it with sound from the left channel. (30 seconds of this is the DJ talking anyway.)

"Was Es Ist" from the album "Angstlos" was played during the post-gig chat, so I removed it.

Nina Hagen - Casino De Paris, Paris, France - 12.12. 1983 (Flac)

Thanks to Egg_Crisis, TravisBickle1963 and Shaun M. for making this recording available.  Good FM broadcast.

Original Info File:

Cassette(radio,unknown gen,TDK D90) > TravisBickle1963 transfer to .wav > Soundforge(normalise,editing) > CDWave(split on sector boundaries) > flac(6)

Radio broadcast. AM radio.

There were 2 recordings of this gig in different quality - both from AM radio, the other had more bass but this has much more clarity and less hiss.  I used 2 min 42 seconds from the other version (with a little bit of noise reduction to lessen the hiss) that had been missed during the tape flip (last 1:04 of Iki Maska/first 1:38 of my Way).  That's a lot missing, maybe the taper had left the room and didn't realise the tape had ended.  I also added a missing 20 sec at the start and 12 sec at the end to make it as complete as possible.

Nina Hagen - UKK-Halli, Helsinki, Finland - 20.12.1983 (Flac)

Thanks to super team Egg_Crisis and TravisBickle1963 and the taper Shaun M. for making this recording available. Sound is very good.

Cassette(audience,unknown but presumably low gen,TDK AD90) > TravisBickle1963 transfer to .wav > Soundforge(normalise,editing) > CDWave(split on sector boundaries) > flac(6)

Tape flip before Herman Heiss Er but with a few sec overlap so it could be joined.
Original tape flip before No More Ego, and another before What it Is.

At 3:20-4:37 (Closing seconds of Zarah/start of TV Glotzer) the left channel went quiet and muffled, I copied the right channel as that was ok.  Also there's a couple of cuts in this section - it sounds like there was a problem with the tape in an earlier generation.

Nina Hagen - Hammersmith Palais, London, UK - 18.11.1986 (Flac)

Thanks to Egg_Crisis for another one from his fabulous collection of tapes.

Cassette(audience,TDK D90,low gen,from record fair in 1987) > wav > Soundforge(normalise) > CDWave > split on sector boundaries > flac(6)

I'd say this is low gen as I got it only a few months after the gig.

My c90 had a slight overlap between side A & B so nothing was lost there.
Tape flip is at around 59 minutes (so a c120 must have been used for the master) between Spirit In The Sky & Zarah, with no music missed during the flip.  The only other cut is during the encore break.

The encore is a 12 minute version of Don't Kill The Animals which was missing from a setlist I found online.  Maybe the taper of that other version had a bus to catch and didn't hang around!

Lineup (announced during the final song)...

guitar - Billy Liesegang
bass - Julian Scott
drums - Peter Krause
drums - Justin Hildreth
bass - Karl Rucker
keyboard - George DeAngelis
keyboard - Roger Craig
guitar - Les Chappell
guest - Lene Lovich
and the one and only Nina Hagen
01 World Now
02 Pumping (My Heart)
03 Gods Of Aquarius
04 Universal Radio
05 New York New York
06 1985 Ekstasy Drive
07 Prima Nina In Ekstasy
