The Sound - Technische Hoogeschool, Enschede, The Netherlands - 01.02.1982 (Flac)

Excellent FM broadcast. Thanks to FredHeadSet for sharing it first.

Original Info File:

The Sound first formed in South London in 1979 out of the remnants of another band, the Outsiders, and consisted initially of Adrian Borland (vocals, guitar), Graham Bailey (bass), Bi Marshall (keyboards) and Mike Dudley (drums).

They signed to Korova (the same label as Echo & The Bunnymen), a post-punk offshoot label of Warner Brothers, and were tipped as potential stadium fillers.

Two albums, Jeopardy (1980) and From The Lion's Mouth (1981), (upon which Bi Marshall was replaced by Colvin 'Max' Mayers), followed, and combined Borland's tense, introspective lyricism with a brassy, anthemic sound.

Korova tried to push the Sound into recording something more radio-friendly and they responded by recording All Fall Down (1982), a harsh, discordant and distinctly uncommercial electro album, and were almost immediately dropped.

With their major label days at an end The Sound signed to Statik, a medium-sized independent label, and released a mini-album Shock of Daylight, their fourth album Heads and Hearts (1985) and their fifth, the powerful In the Hothouse (1986), a double live album recorded over the course of two nights in August 1985 at the London Marquee.

Statik went into liquidation, and left The Sound without an outlet for their music. Borland fell prey to a malignant mental illness and was diagnosed as suffering from paranoid, schizophrenic, manic depression. The group stayed together long enough to release a sixth album, Thunder Up (1987)

A European tour to promote Thunder Up in November 1987, however, ended in disaster when Borland had a breakdown during the first date in Vitoria, Spain at a venue called The End

Adrian saw this as an omen, following a long obsession with Jim Morrison and The Doors, all subsequent dates were cancelled.

The band took a short break and played a few final lack luster gigs in Holland to fulfill contractual obligations. Mike Dudley decided to leave the band shortly afterwards and the group quit a few weeks later in early 1988.

Adrian Borland began a solo career and recorded five low-key albums but continued to be plagued by mental illness.
As he put the finishing touches to his last album Harmony and Destruction Adrian began to show symptoms of illness again. He died on the early morning of April 26th 1999 after throwing himself in front of a train at Wimbledon Station.

Mike Dudley has now retired from music.

Graham Bailey moved to America in 1992 and has retired from music.

Colvin Mayers died from an Aids-related illness on Boxing Day 1993

Andy Vladych - Drums, Percussion
Alexey Kalinovskiy - Keyboard

Information:

THEODOR BASTARD works between genres that can be defined as world music, folk and trip-hop. The trademark of the band is the unique voice of Yana Veva and sound-producing by Fedor Svolotch.
Yana Veva has a rare vocal timbre and she uses a special vocal technique that refers to Russian and Arabic vocal tradition.
Besides singing in THEODOR BASTARD Yana recorded an album with Stefan Hertrich (Shiva in Exile, Darkseed, Betray my secrets) “Nour” in which all vocals were sung by Yana.

In 2004 the most famous album by THEODOR BASTARD “Pustota” was released by four labels: Fulldozer (Russia), Pandaimonium (Germany), Muzikal Yapim (Turkey), Art records (Mexico).
The official video for the album’s title track created by Kol Belov has got the first place at Newgrounds.com (one of the world’s biggest flash animation portals) rating with 118 000 viewers and 99 000 at Youtube.

To support the album THEODOR BASTARD went on tour around Russia, Belgium, Germany and visited several festivals in Europe and Russia.
Live performance is the strongest aspect of THEODOR BASTARD (totally there’ve been more than 300 concerts in band’s history).
There are six musicians in the band who use plenty of electronic devices and special acoustic instruments like various ethnic percussions, kazu, saz and others.

As a result of that tour the band recorded a live album of previously unreleased songs - “Sueta” appeared in the end of 2006.
After that THEODOR BASTARD recorded an album “Beloe” which has two versions – one is experimental electronic and the other is rhythmic world music.
“Beloe” reflected Fedor and Yana's ardour for the Slavic mythology and Russian folk. This album was released by two labels: Q-Code Records (Russia) and Twilight Records (Argentina).

Apart of recording their albums, THEODOR BASTARD are always keeping in touch with musicians from other countries: collaboration with Martin Attkins from Pigface who released a track by THEODOR BASTARD at his label Invisible/Underground Inc.;
with Peter Christopherson of Coil – the band recorded a version of “Love's Secret Domain”; with Ethan Jordan, American saxophonist, playing live together in Brussel; and also THEODOR BASTARD was the support band for the Nine Inch Nails gig in St.Petersburg, August 2007.

Plenty of magazines wrote about the band, among them "Rolling stone", "Time Out" and such European magazines as "Zillo", "Orcus" and "Sonic seducer".
Songs by THEODOR BASTARD were on air of Austrian radio "FM 4". THEODOR BASTARD music was used by Brazilian film director Gustavo Santos, and it was presented at San Paolo film festival.

The last single “Tapa?hula” has shown new interests of the band: the culture of Mesoamerica and rhythms of Africa. But along with that, along with breaking stylistic and conceptual limits,
THEODOR BASTARD has always been true to themselves and known for their sound and approach.
In June 2011 the band successfully performed at the largest German festival WGT in Leipzig. The concert took place on one of the main stages of the festival, in Central Theater of Leipzig.
Also, during the tour, the band gave solo concerts in Poland and Lithuania.

Recently, in November 2011 the release of "Remixed" on CD - the collection of remixes of THEODOR BASTARD’s songs - has taken place.
Such artists from all over Europe as Neotropic, Animals on Wheels, Up,Bustle&Out (all three of them has signed on the label Ninja Tune), Scanner, State of Bengal, Geomatic, Flint Glass, and others took part in the work on the collection.

During all the fall and winter of 2011 THEODOR BASTARD are occupied with the recording of the new album which, as the musicians themselves admit, has become the most complicated and tedious in their career. The musicians had recorded the material in several studios at the same time. Many invited guests took part in the recording. On the album one can hear such instruments as udo, mbira, marimba, reco-reco, caxixi, ashiko, and spring drum. Fedor also used the instruments that he had invented and contrived with his own hand of improvised material such as coconuts, door springs, empty bottles, and plastic. The album will be the most lively and diverse in its contents in the entire history of the band.
Also famous British band Fun-Da-Mental (in the collaboration with the Africans The Mighty Zulu Nation) and unique French singer Julien Jacob took part in the recording of the compositions for the album.
In February 2012 the main representatives of world music in Russia THEODOR BASTARD, after a break that lasted a year and a half, have returned on stage with the presentations of the new album “Oikoumene” in Russia and abroad. Concerts in Moscow and Saint Petersburg were sold out.

"Do you have a dark side? You will after you listen to Aeon Sable." (DeathRat Fanzine)

“The psychonauts have waited long enough for the dark star to shine…”
(Nino Sable & Din-Tah Aeon, 2010)

Aeon Sable is a gothic rock band with a psychedelic touch, highly influenced by esotericism which was formed in 2010 in Essen by Din-Tah Aeon and Nino Sable. The creativity and dexterity of the two musicians, involved in several projects of the German and Portuguese underground scene since 1997, has allowed them to travel to seductively-surprising territory creating an alluring, dark atmosphere that continues to command the attention of the fans in Europe and beyond. "Do you have a dark side? You will after you listen to Aeon Sable" (DeathRat Fanzine, 2012)

The duo signed to afmusic, unveiled their latest release “Aequinoctium” in September 2013. A 5 track mini album consisting of songs written during the recordings of “Saturn Return” and a surprise gift for their audience, offering them a taste of the versatile blend contained in the new full length album the group is currently working on. The band’s devotion and intense drive for constant growth on every aspect of their art lead Aeon Sable to give rare live performances through which they invite fans to enter their creative realms. Upcoming shows are taking place on Friday 22nd of November at Urban Spree (Berlin) and on Saturday 21st of December at Cage Club (Bottrop) while the psychonauts will be making a special guest appearance on 24th of December in Schwarze Weihnacht event in Moritzbastei, Leipzig. In 2014 Aeon Sable will be emerging from the dark tunnels of imagination once again to hunt the stages of Gotham Sounds Festival (Hilden) in May and Wave Gothic Treffen (Leipzig) in June.

Din-Tah Aeon (guitars/programming/production, instrumentalist-songwriter) and Nino Sable (vocals/lyrics/production, graphics & media designer) started Aeon Sable as a studio project only and delivered a very individual interpretation of gothic rock in their quickly sold out debut album “Per Aspera Ad Astra” released in February 2010. Enraptured by nature and the most obscure sides of the subconscious mind, utmost fascinated by magic and all forms of art, the band continued their atmospheric journey and their second full length album “Saturn Return” was released in the end of 2012. The group, dually inspired by the cold melodies of black metal, ambient and gothic rock, along with the spirit of the country Nino was raised, Portugal, revealed a hunting album cherished by their fans and the media, giving rise to requests for live performances. Aeon Sable felt obliged to appear live on stage and thus, had to invite guest musicians.
The live band consisting of Quoth on the bass, Joh alongside Din-Tah Aeon on the guitars and Nino Sable on vocals, performed in 2013 in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Oberhausen, Essen and Emergency Exit Festival in Dornbirn (Austria). Aeon Sable have appeared in several radio talk shows in Germany while articles and reviews about the band and their albums have been published by numerous gothic and metal magazines including Reflections of Darkness, Gothic Magazine, Legacy, Intravenous Magazine, Dark Spy and Orkus. Produced in Hong Kong in 2012, the official video of the band’s hit single “Dancefloor Satellite” was exclusively streamed on Orkus!TV and appeared in DVD compilations throughout Germany. “Dancefloor Satellite” has been remixed by 17 bands from all over the world and a collection of these remixes alongside the original and “Dying Motion” version can be found in an album available for free download on NoiseTrade.

Their three albums are available on every major download store while “Saturn Return” (Vinyl and CD) and “Aequinoctium” (CD) can be acquired through the band’s Bandcamp site as well as several stores and mail orders in Europe. Din-Tah Aeon and Nino Sable are dedicated in sustaining their inimitable personality by creating and developing a distinctive form of musical art; from composing, recording, mixing and mastering to the artwork and website - everything is made solely by the band. Allow yourself to enter the world of Aeon Sable and journey with the psychonauts in the darkest realms…

RE-UPLOAD: Swans - Bonnaroo Festival, Tennessee, USA - 15.06.2013 (Flac)

Taken from the webstream, so it's lossy sourced. Very Good sound. Thanksto DrG for capturing and sharing it here.

NOTES:

~ recorded by DrG from *lossy* digital USTREAM live broadcast ~
~ entitled by DrG as "Stop Texting In Yr Skin Tight Britches!" ~

Lineage: Buffered live Bonnaroo video webcast (the stream staggered to a halt during She Loves Us, but I was able to restart it from the beginning of the whole gig) > Audio capture via Audacity > Cut to separate tracks with WaveLab Lite and boosted 5dB > FLAC level 8

Also; first track trimmed with fade-in added to remove copyright song playing for the band's set-up and *loud* quick start. As trimmed, this will fit on a single CD. There is some *computer* background noise and stream-related click or two, but the loudness of the Swans overcomes.

In the forgotten and ancient honor of actually entitling bootlegs, I'd like to give this recording a name. In the second half of Oxygen, Gira recites; "Stop texting! Stop texting!"

So I rather flippantly thought either "Stop Texting In Yr Skin Tight Britches", or "Bonnaroo In Skin Tight Britches"... the former has more punch IMO. It is also, from what I read, Swans first Bonnaroo Festival gig. The folder pic is from Bonnaroo and I found it with Google... credit is where credit is due.

DO NOT SHARE ON DIME OR OTHER SITES LIKE IT!!!!
It was considered a *lossy* recording by Dime due to the source, and banned within minutes of uploading. However, I did what I could to capture this broadcast simply to enjoy it, as I hope you will.

Feel good now.

Irfan is a Bulgarian World Music & Ethereal Wave band. The name of the band is borrowed from the Sufi terminology and can be translated from Persian and Arabic as “gnosis”, “mystic knowledge” or “revelation” (*see Irfan). Irfan’s music is an invitation for a mystical trip in and beyond time, a message, poetically extended in the language of the heart. World reviews are hesitant about the genre categorization of Irfan’s music, determining it as Neoclassical / World Music / Sacred Music / Ethereal Wave / Heavenly voices. Indeed Irfan’s music is a World Fusion and it is strongly influenced by the sacred and folk music traditions of Bulgaria, the Balkans, Persia, Caucasus, the Middle East and North Africa, as well as by the musical and spiritual heritage of Byzantium and Medieval Europe, yet it retains its own original sound. The musicians use traditional (Bulgarian, Balkan, Oriental, Persian, Indian) and medieval European instruments and vocal techniques woven into a delicate electronic dark ambient sound. Similar in style to established bands such as Dead Can Dance, Sarband, and Vas, Irfan uses ethereal and mystic female vocals in addition with strong male vocals and choirs in combination with an assortment of various traditional and medieval string, wind and percussive instruments including the oud, saz, tambura, santoor, kaval, duduk, viola da gamba, darbouka, daf, bodhran, bendir, zarb and riq.
