Not only has JEMS taped more shows unofficially than most any group of tapers they also have a large collection of 1st gen cassettes of numerous shows they've traded for through the years with other tapers. This recording is one of those. This is a fair to good recording but Wendy's vocals are hard to discern.

RE-UPLOAD: Pauline Murray And The Invisible Girls (Featuring Wayne Hussey) - Nite Club, Edinburgh, UK - 16.05.1981 (Flac)

Trivia: The game's soundtrack is a main feature as well, featuring songs by David Bowie and
Reeves Gabrels (most of which appeared on the 1999 Bowie album 'hours...' or as B-sides on
the associated single for the song "Thursday's Child") in addition to the primary
composition work by Xavier Despas. Most of Bowie's songs are then available (in-game only)
for later listening if the player opts to "buy" the recordings of them within the game.

Bowie's wife Iman Abdulmajid also makes a cameo as one of the numerous Omikronian citizens
the player can "reincarnate" into.

Filmed by the same Italian girl who did the Sisters Brixton Ace vid.  She seemed to stop the tape between songs a lot (to conserve tape and/or batteries maybe) so it's lucky that the Sisters Brixton vid is as complete as it is.  These two didn't fare so well, 4 songs from the Skeletals and 6 songs from Play dead, but that's all that exists of these performances.

The last 2 Skeletal Family songs flick into b&w occasionally.  The tape hasn't deteriorated, it's been like that since I first got it.

Thanks to the original uploader.

Original Info File:

Incomplete audience recording.

This was recorded with Zoom H2 with internal mics, on the low mic gain setting.  H2 lined into computer by USB, wav sent to Magix Audio Cleaning Lab 12.  Magix program was used for track markings, and removal of after show noise.  Flac created with Trader's Little Helper, SBE and torrent work also done with TLH.

Track listing:
01 - The Witch ending - stage chat
02 - Sweet Soul Sister
03 - Embers
04 - The Phoenix
05 - Spiritwalker
06 - Wildflower
07 - Rise
08 - Sun King
09 - King Contrary Man
10 - Love Removal Machine
11 - crowd noise
12 - American Horse
13 - She Sells Sanctuary
14 - band introductions - end

The sound quality on this one gets about an A-, though it gets pretty damned close to an A to my ears.  I unfortunately missed five and a half songs, not expecting them to go on as early as they did.  The recording begins as "The Witch" is in it's last minute or so.  Fortunately, the sound on this makes up for what it's missing, somewhat.  I recorded from four or five heads away from stage right, a few feet from the house speakers, which were pretty clear and clean sounding.  There is some chatty bullshit detectable, but nothing that really ruins the recording.  As pissed as I was that I walked in towards the end of my favorite Cult song, I'm glad I caught what I did.  They sounded much better than I expected.

Don't sell, try not to circulate as lossy.  Enjoy!

Henry Flood - congas, timbales, industrial percussion
Andre Flores - keyboards, vocals, industrial percussion
Rono Tse - industrial percussion, circular saw, siren electric buzzer, tire rim, chains, whistle, oil drum, shakers, tamberines, angle grinder
Kevin Hunter - vocals, tapes, industrial percussion

FM > cassette (2nd gen) > CDR > WAV > trader's little helper > FLAC

This is the only Beatnigs Peel Session. The quality is ok - it is a second generation tape - and perfectly listenable to.

Surprisingly, it is less explosive than you might expect, but certainly worth listening to (in my opinion).

Regarding the personnel, this is a best guess from who plays on the show from Eindhoven a few weeks after this session (but I suspect not all the instruments are played)c.

Marquee was one of the former names of the Duchess Of York until London's Marquee threatened a lawsuit.

Tracks 1-4 were quiet in the left channel, then the levels slowly rose through tracks 5-7.  I don't know if it was always like this or if the tape has deteriorated over the years.  (Side B (tracks 8-12) was fine.)  I sorted out the uneven levels with normalisation.  For that reason you'll maybe notice more hiss in the left channel but this should lessen after a few songs, and it's barely noticeable during the songs anyway.  Maybe I'm over-critical. :)

Cassette (soundboard,low gen-probably 2nd or 3rd gen,TDK D60) > Soundforge(normalise uneven tracks in left channel) > CDWave(split on sector boundaries) > flac(6)

Bonus tracks:

Cassette (unknown gen, probably fairly low) > Adobe Audition(hiss reduction-light setting) > CDWave(split on sector boundaries) > flac(6)~

recording position: FOH
- Yamaha Pocketrak W24 @ 24 Bit / 44 kHz
- Cubase (Master, Tracksplitting, DC Offset Remove) -> WAV 16 Bit / 44 kHz
- Trader´s Little Helper 2.6.0 (FLAC Level 8, SBE Fix, Checksum)

A nice local club evening called "Vanity Noire" with 2 bands playing:
- The Cold
- Age of Heaven

I recorded both bands so i recommend you should always trade this two recordings together.

It was really cold in that venue because of defective heating.
But hence the name of the opening band ^^ i didn't get a cold, thick leather coat rules ;-).
Nice FOH recording. There wasn't high SPL levels so the Yamaha did the job very good.
Only had to do soft EQing.

I Don't Wanna Know should be played 1st as you see on the setlist, but after a few issues
on the soundcheck the position was changed.

Track 6 is sung by a member of a local Band in Leipzig, called Lament.

It's been a busy couple of weeks, filled with stark musical contrasts: Kate
Bush twice in London, White Hills upstairs at the Paradiso, Lady Gaga in the
cavernous Ziggo Dome, and now Swans in my regular haunt, the Paradiso's main

I'm feeling pretty exhausted at this point in the week, and the idea of being
pounded for a couple of hours by Swans really isn't how I want to spend the
evening, but it's tonight or never (or at least next time), so I conscript my
legs into one final service and bike through the Vondelpark to the site of
tonight's barrage of noise.

Pharmakon is up first. The name might sound like that of a pharmaceutical
giant, but it belongs to New York native, Margaret Chardiet.

I was planning to catch her earlier in the year at OCCII before she pulled
out, so I was pleased to learn she would be Swans' support in the autumn.

But what's this? A mere sixteen minutes after starting, she's already heading
back to the dressing-room. Well, that was short and sweet, one of the briefest
support sets I've ever seen. At least it was a tasty hors d'oeuvre.

Before long, it's time for Swans. Michael Gira walks out onto the stage,
gestures to the front-of-house sound man to kill the PA music, and then
disappears again behind the rear curtain.

A gentle rumble rises out of the nothingness and Swans' opening number starts
to germinate. Very gradually, one by one, Gira's band of merry men appear on
stage and add their own particular layer to the snowballing sound.

This is a band with very little time for the conventions of the live music
circuit. A punchy, familiar little opening number to get the crowd fully in
the mood? No, how about a brand new, unreleased 37 minute juggernaut that
pulverises everything in its path? Yeah, now you're talking.

My tired body has new life breathed into it by this assault on my senses. Now
I remember: you don't so much go to Swans as undergo Swans.

The second number is 'A Little God In My Hands' from the band's most recent
album, 'To Be Kind', released back in May.

The better part of an hour has elapsed before Swans get to the end of the
second song. Even 'song' seems a grossly term for describing the nuggets of
noise that this band conjure forth.

And so we continue for another hour or so. Swans' most recent album might be
only a few months old, but already the band have moved on and half of
tonight's set consists of new and unreleased material. My advice to you: If
you want to hear the new record, go to the previous tour.

One amusing moment (to me, at least) comes when Gira asks the lighting man to
turn the spotlight down at the front of the stage, because it's blinding the
audience. How considerate of him. He understands that it's difficult to
appreciate being deafened whilst one is also being blinded.

After a little over two hours, Swans relent. The full body massage using sound
waves comes to an end. The band take a bow while Gira introduces them. When
it's his turn, he proclaims himself to be Ernest Hemingway.

It's not something I'd want to do every night, and I'm probably sated for
another two years now, but Swans live is always a memorably visceral
experience and, in spite of my fatigue, the time passed remarkably quickly.

I'm not sure that their performance this evening surpassed the sublime gig
given by the band in Haarlem's Patronaat a couple of years ago, but it doesn't
matter. Swans certainly didn't disappoint.

The recording is excellent. Put your headphones on, turn the volume up and
fill your head with sound.

Taping position: a couple of rows from the front.

After a couple of gigs with no intro tape, the intro for this gig was some white noise. I didn't split it into a seperate track as it's only short.  Tape flip before the last song.
