Dawn After Dark - Lords Of Sound Studio Rehearsals - 1990 (Flac)

Someone asked for more Dawn After Dark, so here it is. The bad news it's this seems to be the last gem from the band on Egg_Crisis collection. Anyway, enjoy and ultra Thanks to Egg_Crisis for his precious posts here.

Cassette(low gen,maybe 3rd gen,TDK SF90) > wav > Soundforge(normalise uneven L+R channels for each track) > CDWave(split on sector boundaries) > flac(6)
The titles of tracks 1 & 2 are my own invention.
Track 1 is NOT a cover of the Metallica song of the same name.
There's a weird whistle for a few seconds near the end of track 2, it was like that when I got it.

Tracks 5 & 6 are distorted in the left channel.  I could've copied the right channel over, but didn't because it's stereo, the left channel having more bass in some parts for example.

This is Dawn After Dark, presumably with H's replacement on vocals, Johnny Stevenson.
At the time I received this tape I was told that the band had renamed themselves as "Lords Of Sound", presumably after their song of the same name.

There's not much information about this period in the band's history, and what little information there is conflicts with each other.  For example the bands myspace says H quit in 1990, was replaced by Johnny Stevenson in 1991, and the band split early 1992.  This seems a bit long and drawn-out to me.
Another site said H left in 1990, then a British tour with Johnny Stevenson in July 1990 then the band split up after that.  To me, this version seems more likely.

I wasn't even aware this incarnation of the band had done any gigs until reading about it on the net this year.  If anyone has any further information please comment!

  1. H left in November 1989 (a scheduled December tour was cancelled) and the band played gigs through 1990 with Johnny Stevenson on vocals before calling it a day. A couple of warm up shows were played in London under the name Motor City Groovers before JS made his official live debut. I have a letter from H dated February 1990 discussing his departure.
