Band:

Zulu - Vocals

Information:

Reptyles's gig at the K17 was sadly influenced by some tecnical issues during first 3 songs, but they gave everything to give the audience (which was sadly also poor) a good overview of their recent releases, including Just Another Message back in the set, and also a sneak peak of upcoming songs.

“They’ll try to scare us, honey, with weapons they can’t use/I’ll sing back from the archives a song I wrote for you” - the defiant lines from the new record's opening song, “Lost in '95”, characterise German goth rock stalwarts REPTYLE better than any statement of intent. Founded in 1999, at a time a which the genre was considered all but dead, the quintet has made a convincing point of the merits of being undead – without all mainstream industry support, instead building on scores of gigs in Germany and abroad, the loyalty of a select, unswerving fan base, and the quality of their acclaimed full-length albums, “A High and Lonely Place” („Powerful guitars, sinister vocals, driving drums and bass lines, all swathed in atmospheric keyboards – total hit!“ - Zillo magazine, 2004) and “Consequence” (“Reptyle goth and rock for all they're worth“ - Orkus magazine, 2007). Indeed, attitude is important but not everything, as this overdue new offering proves.

REPTYLE have honed their considerable songwriting skills, evident in more diverse, yet more focused tracks. Consider the strutting opener quoted above; the spacious and epic “Into Her Desert”; the breathy, yet gutsy groove of “Heroes of the Working Dead”; and so on. Speaking of focus: Zulu's vocals are grimmer, yet more intimate, both in terms of content and delivery; the guitars combine punkish outbursts with shoegaze atmospheres more effectively than ever; the production is more transparent than on any earlier REPTYLE release; and no, the addition of a live drummer doesn't harm at all.
If this, indeed, is “old school” goth rock, it will inadvertently provide the new century with a new example – and REPTYLE, hopefully, with success beyond defiance.

Information:

First gig where Golden Apes played their new masterpiece "riot" in full length on a concert, this band has its manifistation on sound and details now.
They let speak the music, the lyrics, and the atmosphere within the song for itself no additional words between the songs, just let it flow like a full story.

Since it was given birth back in 1998 the GOLDEN APES has been known as a shimmering gem in the independent wave- and gothic-scene. It is the difficulty of a rigid definition und their versatility, that provides the band a status stamped by requirement and content, making them an important constant within the musical landscape, that lies beyond the common mainstream.
From the bandname, borrowed from the writings of Friedrich Nietzsche, through to the powerful picture language and surrealistic items, which are basics of the bands oeuvre, conducted by Peer Lebrecht´s poetic lyrics, which are thematically on a restless scout among melancholy and mystic, emotion and philosophy, sustained by catchy but complex arrangements, which avoid to bow to borders and conventions for keeping a emotional depth between melody and emotion, between roughness and longing You can discover every listening in a different new way.

Information:

Age Of Heaven filled the Headliner Spot on this evening at the K17, and they were right to do that.
Everything was fine through the set with no excuses, set even longer then Golden Apes and it was one of their best gigs with the new lineup so far.

Spring 1991, Leipzig. Three friends come together with the idea of forming a band.
For the moment they just meet to make a lot of noise and call it rehearsal.
No beginning is an easy one. So it wasn't for them either. It was J.U., who had already written some lyrics by then, who started composing the first songs.
Although he worked on a synthesizer the sound of the band was guitar oriented from the beginning on.
The style was clear it should be Gothic Rock with its roots in the late 80's.

Whitsun 1992 a phenomenon started, the first Wave-Gothic-Treffen took place at Leipzig.
AGE OF HEAVEN played as the opener at the first WGT.
The show was an impressive success at an overcrowded hall in front of an outstanding audience.

Whitsun 2011 the time has come. Age On Heaven were back on stage at the 20. Wave Gothic Festival (WGT) in Leipzig, the special opening show with the first WGT lineup including The Eternal Afflict and Love Like Blood. Sadly i forgot to tape AOH only recorded the LLB show.

On 3rd December 2012 they played their 20th Anniversary in Leipzig too with a very long set and some special guests.
